This Year's Model Updates:

A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).

Pros:
  • Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

It is very comfortable and predictable to drive and I love my bright red one!! Not crazy about the interior design...but getting used to it. Handles well!

We bought a 2004 VUE last week and have enjoyed the looks, performance, and economy of the vehicle. We have the 4 cylinder with the belt driven automatic and it moves along quite well. There is a bit of noise when you "floor it" but the best part of the ride is cruising along at a constant speed where everything is quiet and the view of the road is excellent. We also enjoy the appearance of the view. Our car was purchased with "CAR CARE" for 5 years which provides all maintenance during those years.

  • Very Disappointed - 2004 Saturn VUE

This car has potential, but Saturns execution is very disappointing. I got the service record from the previous owner when I bought the car - 21 complaints, some major. Then in the past 6 months I have had to replace or repair the radio, trim pieces, wheel bearings, the list goes on and on. It has such potential, but Saturn just does not deliver.

  • The New VUE - 2004 Saturn VUE

Searching for a new family car, was a battle between pracitcality for my wife, and performance for me. Hondas CR-V, Pontiacs Gran Prix were on our list with the VUE. The VUEs Acceleration and handling was impressive. The fuel economy and overall price cinched the deal. There simply was no SUV on the market with all these perks, for this price. The newest version has had some exterior improvements that really made a difference. Overall, we love our new SUV. My wife feels safe, and can haul all her "stuff" around. Not that I do, but knowing I can go from 0 to 60 in 6.8s, does a lot for my performance needs!

Had a 280ZX Turbo and this corners and handles sometimes better. Just returned from snow in mountain and it handled just as good or better than other all wheel drives on the same road. Very impressed.

The speedometer is not accurate. Everytime, it gets to 1,000, it clicks back to 0. It will not show the thousands. How do I know, if this particular SUV, did not have thousands of miles on it, because it just showed 34 when I purchased it. It doesnt have the amenities that my Saturn coupe had, such as fog lamps, which I depend on heavily, as I live in "fog" country. The defroster works great.

This was the most comfortable SUV I test drove in this price range. It is very easy to get in and out of even for my elderly aunts. It handles beautifully in the snow, and goes up my steep snow covered drive with no problems at all. I like the plain interior, but I do not care for the location of the automatic window buttons. I love my Red VUE, and I smile each morning I go out and hop into it to head for work.

I found that winter driving is not all that great. I put in two sand bags over the rear wheels. New tires on car, "all weather" do nothing for the car. Car is way too light with all the plastic in it. Rocks when cars/trucks pass. Fan squeeks when on low.. windows fog up and feet freeze as well as your rear passengers. Engine is VERY loud and outside sounds are like the door isnt even shut. Drink holder very awkward for driver. 8 cargo has to be on dash to fit.
