Overview & Reviews
A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).
- Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
- Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

I love Saturn! - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Daniel - July 8 - 7:56 pmFantastic SUV! Best costomer service. This is the second Saturn I have owned (2000 SL1) and I love them. Except for normal wear and tear (tires, brake pads, battery) I have had no issues in the 4 years I have owned it. I bought it with 85000 miles on it and it now has 140000 miles! And still the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Even more than my Toyota Celica. Foreign Shmoreign! Saturn has done a supurb job on quality and always friendly staff! But because I love being able to park it in tight spots without a care in the world with the dent resistant door panels it REALLY disappointed me that they discontinued that on the new models. They need to bring them back!

Great Value In A Sport Utility - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Dale Chesney - July 4 - 10:00 amI havent seen a better value in a SUV. The Saturn Vue gives you a good sense of security in all kind of driving conditions. Great road clearance, passenger room, cargo capacity and overall comfort. For my family, its our second vehicle, that usually gets picked as the first choice for those trips around town. The composite exterior suggest that my Vue will look like new many years from now.

First SUV - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Beldar - May 28 - 10:00 amFirst the cons: The "sloppy steering" is correct, especially when quickly accelerating or accelerating on a rough surface. Seems like the vehicle wants to float to one side, and when braking hard it pulls to the right (supposedly by design). The pros: good ride, great price/value (heated seats are wonderful for those with back problems) remote keyless entry, power windows/locks, etc. make this vehicle easy to get in and out of (yes, large doors too) and even with all this it was only in the $21-22k range. 24 MPG in the city, about 30 on the highway isnt bad for a 4-cylinder SUV.

The Vues OK - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Former Forrester Guy - May 28 - 10:00 amPeppy engine really gets up and goes, but MPG around town 15-16 range. Wanted more room than the Forrester, and got it. Visibility limited when turning due to large corner pillars in front.

More Bang for the Buck - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Hometown - May 28 - 10:00 amThe VUE with the Honda engine is a screamer. It meets my standards of ride and handling. Nothing in the same price range (with incentives) is close. The VUE goes for about what a plain Jane V-6 Accord or Camry does. When you look at the V-6 SUVs, they cost a lot more and have worse power to weight ratios, for example the base line Porsche Cayenne. It about the same size, has about the same set of standard goodies, but it has 3 fewer horsepower and weighs 1100 pounds more. It also costs about $24,000 more. Im happy as a pig in mud with the VUE. Im mystified by the number of connoisseurs of plastic. How much do they want to pay for better looking plastic?

VUE holding up OK - 2004 Saturn VUE
By relantel - April 16 - 12:56 pmThe 2004 VUE has held up well over the 3+ years we have had it. (69k on it in 39 months) No major complaints other than Saturn reneging on a warranty repair to the radio (it would not keep time) earlier this year. The 04 has a Honda engine - about the only reason we havent traded it in given our other difficulties with Saturn of late. Rear seat legroom is a bit cramped in the VUE. The audio system (6-disc in-dash changer) is a good one, and the original tires held up a full 60k before being replaced. It could use more than the front airbags, and the rear drum brakes, even though ABS, are a drawback as well.

The V-6 is the one to get - 2004 Saturn VUE
By jer2315 - April 16 - 10:00 amIve only had this vehicle about 4 weeks, but it is already one of my favorite vehicles ever. It is fun to drive, has a kick to it and is roomy. I am 65" and I have the legroom ive been longing for in a Saturn vehicle. I have read very few problems with the V- 6 Honda engine in the 2004 - stay away from the Vti (4 cylinder automatic models)
