This Year's Model Updates:

A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).

Pros:
  • Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

A real disappointment, especially with the mileage. It promised 23/28, and it is closer to 16/19. The dealer siad there was nothing wrong with the car and nothing they could do about it. Have also had the door fixed, windshield cleaner valves fixed with only 3000 miles.

Our Saturn VUE is a good but not a great car. Mileage on highway runs 34 mpg. Engine performance is excellent. Draw backs: Interior is cheap for the money. This is one of the noisiest cars I have ever driven. Have had it at the dealership 2 times, and still has problems. Sounds as though a train is coming in the drivers door. My 2002 F250 diesel Ford is much quieter than this car. And the resale value is horrible. Purchase a car for $24,000 and drive one year and get offered $12,800 for a trade on a new 2005 Vue. This tells me what Saturn thinks of there vehicle. Would not have purchased this car if I knew what it would be worth after a year of driving.

We bought our Saturn Vue last November. We absolutely love it. It has great handling capabilities and is nimble. The electric power steering is awesome. The ride is carlike and comfortable. It is not top heavy at all. We also were pleasantly surprised when our car insurance dropped. We highly recommend it.

I own the Saturn Vue V6 AWD for over a year and have been really happy with the auto, so far. The gas mileage isnt bad at all and hopefully, it will be as reliable as my past 2 Saturns have been. (Ive owned a 1991 SL2, which I had for over 10 years, with no problems, and also currently own a 1999 SL2, which also has had no problems) Ive taken a couple of really big trips and its unbelievable the amount of stuff I was able to fit in.

Ive had nothing but problems with this car. Once it was out of the basic new car warranty I had to spend about 30% of the purchase price on repairs. Every time I turned around something else needed to be repaired. I have the extended warranty but as soon as it is out of this warranty Im dumping it. This is my 3rd Saturn. Ive had major problems with all of them. I suppose I just kept hoping a decent car would be built in America. Id never, ever buy another one. Saturn makes a piece of junk on 4 wheels just waiting to fall apart.

  • Engineering Defect - 2004 Saturn VUE

I purchase this vehicle on 9-26-03 and it will be repurchase by the manufactureer this week. The vehicle has an engineering defect in the front suspension. It is not "life threatening" so they will not recall the vehicle. I have owned it less than 3 months and it has been in the shop 21 days. There is not a fix at this time for the problem.

the vue rides beautifully and is very attractive inside and out. only MAJOR complaint is was not told that tire snow chains can only be purchased at the dealership and was caught in the sierras, donner pass without chains in a freak storm heading for reno on business and had to turn around as no one could sell us chains for a saturn car.

Nice vehicle, V6 very powerful in all situations. Getting on to highways is a blast-nobody takes advantage of this little truck. Surprisingly good on gas. Getting 22 mpg. on the road. Smooth shifting automatic! Plenty good A/C. Quiet ride. Roomy. Good looking.
