  • Nice Ride - 2004 Nissan Sentra

What can I say, its a nice ride. I live in NYC and I commute about 100 miles a day and this car is great on the highway but not so much on fuel. Little disappointed there. Fun to drive on the highway, not so much on the NYC streets. The potholes are a killer. No time to enjoy the ride. Too much shifting only to slam on the brakes for red lights and taxi cabs. Takes a little time to warm up. I love the shifting but can be hard at times. Great to drive in the mountains. Stiff ride in the city streets and sometimes to highway. Girlfriend complains of the stiff ride but I dont mind. Look for a car that gets better gas mileage. Look at the SE 2.0 liter. Better ride and gas mileage.

I bought this car to get better gas mileage, but I didnt want a econobox I would get bored with. 6 speed manual and plenty of power.

I bought a used 04 SE-R Spec V with only 4,000 miles on it. im very disappointed with it. The fuel mileage is average. The first gear is too short and sometimes it is a pain to put it in reverse. The ride is too harsh over little bumps and the suspension is bad. I had front struts replaced after 20K miles and rear twice at 25K and 57K miles. Many little irritating problems like the emergency brake light refuses to go off, it comes with stock summer only tires, factory speakers not that great, no ABS on a car at this price point is ridiculous. Even KIA offers ABS on their much cheaper models.

  • Good car for price/features - 2004 Nissan Sentra

A good car for price to features. Replaced 1994.4 Limited edition 5spd with this one. Looks like old car has better fuel economy and back seat legroom! Recommend to anyone looking for a a good commute car OR First time buyer.

The car is nice and comfortable to drive. Highway driving is good, limited outside noise when windows are up. Overall its a great car to use in town or drive a long distance to work. Gas miliage is great - this I love. Car hands great and a great front view. It would be sporter load with outside extras like wing and tint.

I bought my car used when it had 35 thousand miles on it. That was 2 years ago i have since put 45 thousand more miles on it and i have had no trouble with it. I will be honest and say i drive the heck out of it too and its still standing. Did i mention its only a 1999. They are great imports Dont let the name fool you. If you take care of it it will last even longer. ENJOY!

  • Great Little Compact - 2004 Nissan Sentra

I bought this car new in 2004. I was downgrading quite a bit, so it took some time to get used to it. But other than my snobbishness to it originally, its been a great little car. I have over 100K miles on it, have driven it from IN to TX and to FL a couple times, plus a 60 mile commute for work everyday. Ive had very little trouble with it mechanically. Had an engine issue a couple yrs after I bought it, but that was covered under my warranty. Otherwise only normal things like new tires and brakes. Its been comfortable on long road trips. I wouldnt want to sit in the back for very long but then I again, I dont have to. :)

  • All in all, not bad. - 2004 Nissan Sentra

Power steering fluid leaks. I have to keep checking and topping up when necessary. Makes a squeaky noise on the drivers side, front end as I drive over bumps (speed bumps). Makes a squealing noise under the hood, mostly on wet days. CD player didnt want to give back a CD. I had to take it to the dealership. They replaced the CD Player but didnt return my CD. The trunk release no longer works from inside the car nor does the remote control open it.

The styling on the Sentra is best when a spoiler is added to the package. The 1.8 liter engine is peppy, but requires high rpm (~4200 rpm) on large hills when the cruise control is on. I drive approx 700 miles each weekend and the comfort level is acceptable. The interior is roomy and the trunk space is more than adequate. I February (mostly highway) and usually get about 30 mpg vs the 35 that is advertised on the window sticker.

Ive had bad experiences with cars, and so far this is a winner. I love the way it handles, except they need to make the body a little heavier(those windy days watch out) im all over the road. The audio is good for manufactured speakers.
