This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Wont Buy Another Nissan - 2004 Nissan Murano

This was my first brand new car. Bought Nissan because of reliability. Have been sorely disappointed in quality of car. Have had to replace both front door locks (quit unlocking) windshield (mirror came off with a chunk of windshield with it) Bose 6-CD player quit after 2 years. Now some of the display on radio doesnt work. Drivers side visor falls down 20 times a day & is now velcroed to the headliner. Lost one of the black inner fenders somewhere. One of the little trays in console no longer opens. Drivers seat rocks & moves when you start & stop. Local dealer "has never heard of any of these problems before with a Murano". Im trading it off ASAP.

This car is amazing! It has everything you need. I just took it to the snow and it handled beautifully. And its the 2WD model. It has a great ride and it is very powerful when passing others on the highway. Ive also received many complements on the design. I highly recommend it. I payed $29,000 for the SL 2WD with Sunroof package, floor mats, and wind deflector.

  • ALTERNATOR - 2004 Nissan Murano

The alternator on our Murano was replaced by the dealer. The car had 10000 miles. I dont think ours was the 1st car to have this trouble. Sounds like a design problem with the alternators on the Muranos. Pretty scarey on a new car in this day and age.

  • Not bad, but certainly not great - 2004 Nissan Murano

The car will probably lasy a long time and give good service. It is a good looking piece. In side I feel comfortable. It has the same 2 ft deep dash as my last minivan. It has the same reflections in the windshield becaus os this too. Once you get it rolling, it performs well. That 3.5 is a sweet engine. The CVT costs you off the line. And the Economy that the CVT is supposed to give you just doeant happen. Overall a good car. But certainly not a great car. And it has problems that are PARTICULARLY irritating.

Id fall in love with the murano since april 03 at the new york auto show, finally bought it in july 04, I constantly compare this car with my 01 pathfinder LE and find nissan really had came a long way, sure foot of fwd, rear ventilated disc brake, limo like interior space, daul auto climate control, 18" wheel; green house feel for the front passengers(test drive the FX than you know what I mean), too bad I could only drive it on the weekend.(the wife always gets the new cars if you know what I mean)

WAITED UNTIL AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AFTER INTRODUCTION BEFORE BUYING. RIDE IS STIFF AND TIRES TOO HARD AT RECOMMENDED PRESSURE OF 32PSI. EVEN AT 30PSI. IT IS TAKING TOO LONG FOR THE SUSPENSION TO GET SORT OF COMFORTABLE. THE CVT IS OK UNLESS YOU ARE A RACE DRIVER AT THE RED LIGHT. RESPONSIVE ENGINE. EXELLENT NIGHT VISION. I DO NOT NEED A SPORTS CAR NOW.
