Overview & Reviews
SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.
- Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

Disappointed - 2004 Nissan Murano
By chill68 - November 25 - 12:25 amPurchased in 2004. Happy with the overall look and performance. Did not buy it for gas milege just wanted a safe vehicle for wifey. Check engine light stays on due to a bad Catalytic Convertor. Which in subsequent models was repaired. This causes the engine to burn oil because of particle blowback. The only sensible repair is a new engine. About 2-3 quarts every 2K miles. Driver side seat panels and arm rest cracked and peeled apart. During hot weather the door locks stick. Have to hold the unlock button and let the windows roll down to get in. The gas tank door opener stop working. I just disconnected from the system versus paying $300 for the part. Cannot wait to part with.

By rothputin - September 25 - 2:50 pmCant tell if its a car or an SUV. Its whatever you want it to be. Great zip and handling on the road, but you can still climb a curb if you have to.

great murano - 2004 Nissan Murano
By grantj - June 25 - 3:03 amI love the car. I had a few problems with it at first. The CD changer (single cd) was changed 3x before it would stop eating cds. The steering controls stopped working and a fuel injector went out after 1 month. Not major since the car had 55k miles when purchased. Some controls feel cheap. The gas tank door would not unlock, door locks sometimes stick. I havent had any problems in the last 10 months. very pleased, not so pleased with the customer service at the dealership but its getting better. They do not take care of the car, several scratches on the dash and radio due to their carelessness during service.

Eds new Murano experience - 2004 Nissan Murano
By cityhog - April 28 - 10:00 amThis is our first new car/SUV. It has all the room and power a young couple with one child needs (Im 511"). We love the leg room and the interior design. It has a wide stance that encourages confidence. Suspension is just right (a bit sporty but not too stiff). It recently came #2 in roll- over rating. Engine power is not brutish, very smooth and more than adequate for a normal human being (if you need/want faster, get a sports car).

Nice cross over - 2004 Nissan Murano
By D.L - March 26 - 2:00 amSpent months looking for a reliable, easy to own vehicle that is good in the snow. So far, Ive found the Murano to be a nice compromise between sedan and traditional SUV. Less truck like than many competitors. Roomier than it appears to be from the outside.

Getting disappointed - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Disappointed Ed - February 15 - 2:00 amWas great from the start, great seat comfort, great handling, decent mileage, only problem was rattles all over. Nissan used cheap plastic materials. At 50,000 the front suspension began to have problems. First the right wheel bearings, axle, and tie rod had to be replaced. Now at 62,000 the same issues with the front left side. All issues with suspension are in the front. Murano rides hard, maybe this causes excessive wear on front suspension, still no excuse for this. Also front and rear motor mounts, dealer says need to be replaced, private mechanic says no. They cost $1000 to replace! No excuse for these problems on car with only 62,000 miles. Dealer uses hard sell to push service.

Still fun after 1-1/2 Years - 2004 Nissan Murano
By robreb - January 27 - 10:00 amI have 18,000 miles on my Murano and I still smile when I drive it. I did have to have the alternator replaced recently when it failed. Nissan knows about this issue on some Muranos and paid for the tow and replacement. have a friend with a 500 Mercedes SUV who is amazed at the comfort and performance of my car - for a lot less $$. Back seat fits tall guys and interior can hold a ton of stuff. I changed oil to Mobile 1 at first change and mileage improved right away. In heavy traffic I get close to 20, on the highway as much as 25. I have a few minor issues with the car but cannot think of a single vehicle I would prefer to drive. Acceleration is smooth and quick.

04 Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano
By md1971 - October 1 - 2:00 amGreat engine and handling. Rougher ride. Very poor interior build quality. Lots of creaking and cracking sounds on the bumps. Required a return trip to the dealer to fix the sounds.
