Overview & Reviews
SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.
- Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

My Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Ray - September 7 - 12:33 pmI have owned this Murano now almost 1 year and I must say I have had trouble! the interior back door panels had to be stuffed with foam @ the dealer to prevent rattle noise. The car has had 1 recall (altenator) and now just today I had a breakdown defective transmission. I probably will not see my car for a week, but I guess that can be a good thing. What else can go wrong? I will be going back to Honda or Toyota maybe even American. When this car drives it is nice, I like to say it feels like riding on glass, and it is comfortable but I do not tolerate breakdowns. Good luck I hope my narrative helps.

So far so good - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Chucky - June 30 - 2:00 amCurb appeal makes this vehicle stand out. I have had a number of people comment on the styling when they first see it. This is a fun car to drive. Great handling and acceleration on the highway. Nice sound system as well. My only real complaint is the gas mileage is 16/20 mpg and not 20/24 as rated. The CVT also slows the acceleration on cold day.

Great car with comfort & style - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Ray - June 5 - 11:20 pmThis has been 1 of the best vehicles Ive owned over the past 20 yrs. Never had any major problems with it. Gas mileage is decent for the size (20 mpg) and I can fit 2 German Shepherds in the back without folding down the rear seats.

Never again - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Needs Help - February 1 - 1:36 amI have only had my Murano for a year and a half since buying it as a used vehicle. I have already had to replace the controlling arms, tie-rods, and muffler. Now I have found out that there is an engine problem and will require around $3000 to $4000 to fix. I am highly disappointed and will not purchase another Murano. There should not be this many problems with a car before you hit 100,000 miles.

My Fifth Nissan - 2004 Nissan Murano
By Tennis Jock - December 31 - 10:00 amAll said and done, this SUV feels good to drive, with many nice features. I have driven many others in its class, and this one was my favorite. I have the touring package with the works, and cafe au lait leather interior, and its much cooler than the dark interior, especially when you live in florida!

Two Questions on my Murano SL FWD - 2004 Nissan Murano
By lishumit - December 25 - 10:00 amI have heard too many positve evaluations. However, I noticed that: (1) I have never got the 25MPG fuel economy on highway with a speed of 70MPH, only about 22MPG. (2) When I try to accelerate the car (not very sudden) at low speed (<20MPH) I find that the engines revolution has a slight shift down (i.e. from 1800rpm to 1500rpm), and then stay at that revolution with an increasing speed; on the contrary, when I try to slow down the car, at the speed of 15MPH I find that the revolution has another shift up (i.e. from 1100rpm to 1500rpm), and then goes back to 1100rpm with a decreasing speed. Anybody noticed the same phenomena? All comments are welcome.

2004 nissan murano - 2004 Nissan Murano
By clem - December 6 - 4:00 amAwesome vehicle. The handle is superb for an SUV. The Bose Stereo is more than adequate. The only problem Ive noticed so far in the 5 months that Ive owned the vehicle is a rattle every now and then when I hit bumps. I have not been able to pin point it nor has the rattle been consistent enough for me to take it to the dealership for repair. I havent been on very long road trips as of yet, but it seems that it would be challenging to maintain a high degree of comfort on bumpy roads. Just my opinon.

How do I hate thee, let me count the ways. - 2004 Nissan Murano
By 6twentysix - June 3 - 11:48 amI was super excited about this pre-owned car, I bought it around 50K and I bought the extended warranty. HOLY CRAP, Im glad I did. Here is a list of things that were fixed. Catastrophic Failures (covered by Warranty) Drive box - wouldnt go in reverse (Out 2 weeks) Transmission was rebuilt when the chain kept leaking which I guess is a common problem. (Out 1 week) Minor but extremely annoying: Door Actuator on the Drivers handle Windshield Wipers (twice fixed) CV Joint passenger side Struts after only 60K And a bunch of other crap I cant remember... Nissan fixed things, but as soon as the warranty ended, I sold this bad car. Now its another Nissan dealerships problem.
