37 mpg - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Alan Groves - August 28 - 6:56 pmI drive 220 miles a day round trip to work and back, all interstate driving. At 65 mph Im achieving 37 mpg! Around town I get 27 to 28. The thing runs like a good v-6 would but its only a 4 banger! The one thing I dont like is that it feels like your falling out of the seat forward. I have to recline the back of the seat further than I would like so that it feels like Im not falling forward. I also find the tire pressure warning light annoying. Its too sensitive to outside air temperature. Other than that we love it!

Family Sports Car - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Mike K - August 24 - 2:43 pmIt looks like a mundane family hauler, but handles and drives like a sports car if you get on the gas. The 3.5 engine is so powerful, and the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is very smart and seems to read your mind. If you just cruise around town, the CVT keeps the engine revs low to save gas, but if you give it more throttle, it quickly lets the engine spin up (no shift lag) and it MOVES. When shifted "manually" the CVT shifts very quickly through the preset 6 speeds. Can feel bumps with the SE vs SL (luxury) version, but its a reasonable trade-off for larger wheels, better shocks and stiffer anti-roll (sway) bars. Steering a bit numb, but sticks well in curves. I love it!

About what we Expected - 2008 Nissan Altima
By cb - July 5 - 12:26 pmBought the 2.5S Altima in June. Two months and two thousand miles later I can report fuel mileage at 27 in mixed driving. The car says 29, but fill and calculate gives 2 mpg less every time. At least it is consistent. We have not had any major problems yet, but the trunk hinge spring now rattles and we can see that some of the paint job is not as good as we might have hoped. We are satisfied with the purchase and the car does come with features that should be standard everywhere like the keyless ignition.

Nice car, but not comfortable - 2008 Nissan Altima
By ED - June 29 - 2:36 pmNot a bad car but Nissan and the Japanese auto makers really need to add some padding to there seats of there cars, I had a honda civic and traded it due to the seats being too hard. Same goes with this Nissan. Also, the 4 cylinder is very course. Put it to the floor and get your ear plugs. Should have opted for the v-6. The trans will not shift if I put it to the floor. You have to let off the gas for it to shift. A CVT thing? Also had a problem with the drivers seat moving around, had it fixed and it still moves around.

Great improvement - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Marc - April 24 - 7:40 amI purchased my 2008 Nissan Altima in April 2008. It has been a great car thus far, fun to drive and handles well. I love the push button start the most, you cant be the opts for a 2.5 S. Previously, I owned a 2006 Altima but it was totaled in an accident. The new Altima improvements are noticeable and you would think they would be in a more expensive car.

Curiosity - 2008 Nissan Altima
By anasity - April 3 - 9:23 amI have just purchased this vehicle within the last week. It hasnt quite been a week yet. Ive only driven it around the city and have yet to test it out on the road. So far I like the way it feels when driving. The ride is smooth. I love the exterior design and the quality seems to be good. As far as the reliability, I will have reserve comments on that for now. I am satisfied with the interior design as well.

altima issues - 2008 Nissan Altima
By islander12 - March 27 - 12:45 pmAny issues that I have have with my 2009 Altima i just had to google and found them very quickly online. Three issues, Push start, transmission and leak in the moon roof all were listed as a problem. Nissan covered all repairs except for the moonroof. Disappointing because only had 36000 miles as of 2012 and bought the car based on consumer reports.

Drive train awful - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Teal - March 12 - 2:00 am2 sets of bearings, one tranny failure (so far), constant brake noise. Probably the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned at the age of 63 and I owned some junkers as a kid. Get the car back tomorrow after another 4 days at the dealer service. Trading it this weekend on non-Nissan product.

Just bought 08 Altima SL with 10K miles - 2008 Nissan Altima
By utlax18 - December 31 - 7:46 pmJust bought a used 08 Altima SL with 10K miles. I like the sportiness of the car and the interior. Averaging 25.1 overall mileage (per the trip computer) and drive primarily in the city. Only issue I am having is a slight "lifter" noise which I have researched and they say it is a "timing chain tensioner" issue. Will take it in a week or so for the dealer to look at it. If I didnt have this issue, I would rate it a 9.

Hmm - 2008 Nissan Altima
By snowfish - November 12 - 10:56 amWell I have had the car for about 2 months now. There are a lot of things I like and some I dont. I traded in a fullsize truck for this car, so getting used to the smallness off the interior, and the low ground clearance has been tough. Also the lack of comfort and the road noise. I live in Alaska so some of the roads arent smooth. I do however like the gas mileage. I am getting a little more than 550 mi. On a tank. Thats mixed. The interior fabric is cheap ultra suede. Cannot be cleaned! I dont like the cheap plastic interior. For the price it should be much nicer. Am not totally happy with the car and find myself wishing for something else.
