  • Be Careful! - 2008 Nissan Altima

First hour off the lot, I already had problems. I looked up at the pillar on the drivers side (the spot where the headliner meets above the window), and I see a wet spot. Had to take it back to the dealer. Apparently there was a blockage in the drain hose from the sunroof. Next day, I get a call. The front of the car is soaking wet. The evaporator has also malfunctioned. So I bought the car Wednesday, drove for a total of 40 miles (20 miles home, and then 20 miles to the dealership), and will finally be able to drive it again Friday afternoon.

  • Most Uncomfortable seats ever - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

I have a 2008 Altima SE V6 and this is by far the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had. I downsized from a 2007 Infiniti M35 those seats were OK. Before I bought the Altima I had read several posts in Edmunds about uncomfortable seats on long drives and I should have listened better. It only takes 5 minutes and my back starts hurting. I do have back problems but this pain is different. It feels like there is no support in some areas especially left side. I have bought padded lumbar cushions but it did not help much. I would invest in custom seats if it would help but if not I am going take loss and get another car but what car in this class has superior comfort?

  • Great car with a few improvements needed - 2008 Nissan Altima

Researched everything in its class. Liked the sports car handling of the Accords, luxurious and quiet ride of Camry, but the Altima was a combination of both. Biggest trunk for my work stuff, most comfortable driving position (armrests, steering wheel position awesome). Drivers legroom amazing. SL/Connection package great! CVT very odd but it works well. Pushbutton start is really cool. Only things need to be addressed are better rim/tire sizes. "T" rated 60 series tire gives great ride but mushy handling. Should come with "H" rating. Steering feedback is way to light, car wonders a little a speed. Trunk hinges are for cheap domestic cars not imports. Im very picky and very happy.

  • Another nice car by Nissan - 2008 Nissan Altima

This is my 4th Nissan I have owned. And it is another great car from Nissan. I love the exterior body style. The fuel economy is exceptional for a mid-size sedan. The 4 cyl behaves like a 6 cyl. I do wish we had the option of getting leather seats without the need to buy the SL package, but Ill just bring the car to a good interior shop to change the seats to a custom leather interior. This vehicle should be on anyones list for a mid-sized sedans.

  • Altima still needs some improvement - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

I bought the Altima 2 weeks ago and I dont know how to describe the feeling of looking at the 2008 Altima 3.5 SE (V-6!!). Its beyond great. But the problems are there, I cant ignore it. After a couple days of driving it, I found the suspension noise to be very loud and found it to be annoying (sounds like its rusted metal, a "squeak" sound). Two, the build material or overall finish of the interior was made with cheap material. The 2 front side of the door also made a "squeak" noise when you pressed upon it or when the car turned and your leg/thigh leaned against it.

  • Problems from the start - 2008 Nissan Altima

I bought my 3.5SE cvt 1 year ago and almost immediately noticed slight movement in the power driver seat. I figured something needed tightening or adjusted but 1 year later and 4 visits to the dealer and the answer Im getting is that Im not the only one with this issue and Nissan is aware but does not have a solution yet. I cant believe I have a 32K car that I HATE now because of movement. Google Nissan Altima Seat squirm and you will find others with the same complaints. I doubt they have corrected the problem with the 09s but BEWARE. Ive also had quite a few rattles that are frustrating me. Ive had an Xterra and an 05 Titan that were well made but this will be my last Nissan.

  • Very good buy - 2008 Nissan Altima

I really like this car. I would rather have had the 3.5L V6, but given the fact that it takes premium fuel, gas prices, blah blah blah you get the picture. Very good A to B car in style, and somewhat fun to drive. Creature comforts with the convenience package are very nice. Car is very sophisticated looking for the price. Its my first new car, and I will keep it for at least 5 years provided that no idiot(s) run into it and break it.

  • Stylish Ride, Good Gas Mileage - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

Theres at least three 2.5S on our block, and more in the neighborhood. Nissan must be doing something right with this car. We love the gas mileage and style. This is our second Nissan, the last a 1989 Maxima. They still havent learned anything about lower back support. Long drives can be painful. Otherwise, my main complaint is the transmission. It seems like the engine is missing, particularly when going up a hill. Ive had it in to the dealer twice, and they can find nothing wrong with the engine, so, I have to feel as if it is the transmission. Recently, Nissan sent me a letter extending the warranty on the transmission. So there just might be something there.

  • Looking Good - 2008 Nissan Altima

I really enjoy the impressive exterior styling and impressive acceleration that make this car fun to drive and be seen in. Great deals exist on new 2008s that are still in dealer inventory. Mine stickered at 32K, but bought for 26K.
