Like Car But Has An Incurable Bug - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Don - September 20 - 1:00 amI Generally like the car especially the gas mileage. Plenty of interior room, and trunk space. The only negative seems to be paring of the CVT transmission with a 4-cyl. engine. When starting uphill from a stop, particularly w/the A/C on, it feels like the engine is missing or that it is having difficulty shifting gears. I think it is the latter. Ive taken it to the dealership 3 times, and they cannot find anything wrong and suggested I use a higher octane gas. That did not work (and defeats the purpose of buying a 4-cyl.). So, I use the shift control in the "manual" mode when going up a hill from a stop and do not experience the "missing" feeling.

2 years old & not happy - 2008 Nissan Altima
By moorem1 - September 15 - 2:40 amHad owned a Maxima previously, thats why went back to Nissan. Not as pleased this time. Before 2 yrs old battery went dead. Replacement on stock battery was 50%. After market battery would have been 100%. Since new battery the brake light (indicating emergency brake is on) comes on randomly. Also the slip light & VDC light come on randomly. Seems to be sluggish at times.

windshield wiper malfunction! - 2008 Nissan Altima
By concerned owner - August 11 - 7:30 amI have a 08 Nissan altima coupe - V6. My windshield wipers are giving me major problems. They will work and then all of a sudden will stop working. This is a safety concern since they will randomly stop working for about 3-4 minutes and then turn on again. It happened again just this past saturday when it was raining out and I was on the highway. They stopped working a total of 3 times in just a 40 minute drive. I could not see a thing and had to pull over. This has been an ongoing issue pretty much since I purchased the vehicle but been even more problematic these past months.

Fun to Drive - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Dawn - July 30 - 2:13 amThis is a fun car to drive. It gets great gas mileage. I love the 20 gallon gas tank (that was a seller for me!). You can go forever on a tank of gas. I miss the room of an SUV (which I drove for years) but I was tired of the gas prices and poor gas mileage of the larger vehicle.

Ready to trade. - 2008 Nissan Altima
By KP - July 21 - 2:00 amBought brand new in June of 2008. I have 35,000 miles within 2 ½ years. Gets great gas mileage, very sporty and I really do like the push button start. But I have had problems that in my mind outweigh the good things. Had to have the radio replaced. That took 4 trips to the dealer before Nissan would finally replace it. Had the trunk latch replaced. Now Im dealing with the radio display again and they wont do anything and my warranty is up in 999 miles. Windows roll down if you hold the unlock button on the key. I didnt know that till it happened the other night with the key in my pocket. Then the lights were on and I couldnt get them shut off. So now I have to take it back in.

Appearance is great but... - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Patrick - May 23 - 9:56 amI purchased a 2.5S Coupe (Precision Grey) and had 2 problems already. After having it for 5 days, the car would only start after pushing the start button 15+ times (which the service technician claims its a defective battery - well see) and the a/c compressor has to be replaced (was making a rattling noise). Ive had an altima since it debuted in 92 and had no problems with its previous versions. Im hoping that the new coupe doesnt prove me that Nissan is now marketing more on design and failing on overall reliablility.

Beautiful but engine blown after 68miles - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Allen King - April 9 - 3:06 amMy silver 3.5SE coupe was a sight to be seen. The interior styling is sleek and modern. The Bose stereo sounds crisp and clear, and is paired to a crisp NAV display. The car drove smooth yet powerful and handled very well. Unfortunately after 20 hours of ownership and 68 miles driven, the engine "blew" (Nissan service centers words). Nissan refuses to replace the car, their final decision is to only replace the engine.

Manual transmission issue - 2008 Nissan Altima
By richard keyser - March 21 - 3:00 amI find the interior to be rather cheap for a car of that price range. The dash looks cheap and the ride is not particularly smooth. I had a 15 year old Saab prior to this Nissan and it had less road noise and drove smoother than my new Nissan. Also every time I try to shift into second gear the manual transmission gives me trouble. Almost have to force it into second gear. Very disappointed in my purchase. Dealership not very helpful in fixing the problem. First and only Nissan I will ever own.

I am torn. - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Five6viiate - January 13 - 2:43 pmOkay, so I have the 2.5S CVT 4 Door with Convenience Package. Great car, smooth ride, good gas mileage considering my lead foot. The 4cyl blew the doors off my friend 4cyl accord, and picks up and hauls! The tires are GREAT in the rain, but the large sidewall makes the performance during turns and quick maneuvers quite sloppy. The spoiler definitely makes it look classy. I had to have my door repainted fresh off the lot due to poor clearcoat application and discoloration of paint. I was quite upset. Now my window doesnt have auto up. Just down. I have had 2 Nissan prior to this and one Infiniti. I am disappointed that this car has had this many "issues" in less than 2500 miles.
