This Year's Model Updates:

Nissan adds a roadster to the 350Z lineup. Available in Enthusiast and Touring variants, the 2004 Nissan 350Z roadster offers the same performance and handling as the Z coupe but with the added fun of top-down driving. In other news, satellite radio (either XM or Sirius) is a new option this year for the Touring version of the coupe.

Pros:
  • Smooth and powerful V6 engine, excellent handling, available drop-top version, a bargain compared to anything that can run with it.
Cons:
  • Rough ride on Track model, some low-grade interior materials, lack of luggage space, poor rearward visibility.

I have shopped quite a bit for a roadster as a gift to myself, or as some people say my "mid-life crisis". This vehicle fulfills all my expectations and criteria. It has great style, handling, performance, and it exhilarates. I love it.

  • Good all around value for a sports car - 2004 Nissan 350Z

The engine is strong, exhaust note is intoxicating, steering response is immediate, suspension is tight, noise level is a bit high. Visibility out back is downright HORRIBLE. I had my 6 speed manual transmission replaced at 4000 miles, and I dont think the noises from the tranny are completely gone yet; not confidence inspiring at all. Secondly, Many 2003 and 2004 Z exhibit unusual front tire wear in a cupped fashion at exterior shoulder blocks. Dont buy a Z until Nissan fixes this problems (they havent). Save yourself a huge headache! If I had to do it again, Id buy the car next year 2005 when they get the bugs ironed out.

I am 57 and this "Z" has put "FUN" back in life. After owning two Vettes and two "Zs", the new "Z" gets a 10 for looks, handling and design. None car buffs think its a new Porsche. They seem to love the design and I have received comments as best looking car on the road to better looking then the Porsche at 1/3 to 1/2 the price. I have the Liguid Aluminum paint and its beautiful sunshine or not. I cant say enough about it. I only wish it was American.

The service tech at Gwinnett Nissan informed me that it was normal to have the front tires wear out, even though I only had 14,000 mls.He told me they did have front end problems & they were not equiped to deal with the problem,I would have to contact Nissan.I inspected the tires by turning the wheel all the way in my driveway. I discovered both tires were totally wore out from the inside & I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON STEELCORDS.With the low profile of the car & the outer treads looking fine I had no idea of the unsafe condition.I called Nissan & Ryan gave me a complete run around. A car rated for 155 mph should not have this type of problem.

i really dont own one but i would like to because this ride is off the hook. i can snatch chains when the sun go down and head to the club and kick it. this is a reliabile car and it draws a lot of attention.

  • 6th Z - 2004 Nissan 350Z

I have owned six Nissan Zs from the 240s up to the 300s and my 2004 350Z is the best. The 240 was the car that could get a young man into a cool sports car at a low price. The 350Z is a car that can do the same but can blast most other cars off the road. Yes the new Ford Mustang can do the 1/4 mile in less time but by the 1/2 mile point the pony is sucking fumes from the Z.

I love to drive it. The only bad thing about this car is the rear visibility.

The 2004 350Z Roadster is the best, sportiest, most entertaining car ever. The fun factor makes the car a bargain. It turns heads wherever you go. People stop to talk and I’m happy to give my opinion, which is terrific. It gets good gas mileage. Driving for 3-4 hours with the top down at speed is a pleasure. The re-tuned suspension is much better than the ’03 coupe I traded in on the roadster. So is the Bose stereo. Buy this car.
