This Year's Model Updates:

Nissan adds a roadster to the 350Z lineup. Available in Enthusiast and Touring variants, the 2004 Nissan 350Z roadster offers the same performance and handling as the Z coupe but with the added fun of top-down driving. In other news, satellite radio (either XM or Sirius) is a new option this year for the Touring version of the coupe.

Pros:
  • Smooth and powerful V6 engine, excellent handling, available drop-top version, a bargain compared to anything that can run with it.
Cons:
  • Rough ride on Track model, some low-grade interior materials, lack of luggage space, poor rearward visibility.

  • The Enthusiasm has worn off.. - 2004 Nissan 350Z

I was ecstatic when I first drove away in my 350Z! A year later I doubt the long-term quality of this sports car. I was tempted to trade it in, but the dealership I bought it from offered me $26,000 for a car that was worth $34,000 when I signed. Not a smooth ride, the tires are loud, the warning light system is not reliable, & the engine makes a constant clicking sound. Have you ever heard the phrase "Death Trap"? Just thought Id ask.. $40 to fill up the tank isnt helping either w/ gas prices on the rise. All in all I still enjoy the look of the 350Z but will not be interested in buying out the car at the end of the lease or leasing a new one.

i enjoy driving my z a great deal. it does however dent easily and has a substantial amount of interior noise. not the engine or road noise that is to be expected, but creaks and various rattles under various conditions. i have attempted to have the problem fixed but i believe that my local dealers mechanics are deaf or the noises dissipate when i am not in the car. at any rate they continue to exist. driving the car is surperb. the handling is outstanding and if not for traction control i know that on one occasion i would have wrecked my car. i wish the car had 50 more horsepower and 500 fewer pounds.

  • BEWARE OF THE PAINT JOB (REDLINE) - 2004 Nissan 350Z

I have owned this car for one year.I was willing to deal with the minor issues of a first year car seeing that Nissan North America was supportive in fixing the issues. That has come to a screaching HALT. The paint is coming off in what I see as flakes leaving behind white spots over the entire car. This car has 9900 miles is garaged and pampered but now looks terrible.Nissan North America is stating that it is rock damage and will not rectify the issue.I drive on well paved roads and am not being pelted by rocks as they suggest.Major disappointment as I am facing thousands to have a one year old car repainted.

  • Why I wont buy another car from Japan - 2004 Nissan 350Z

I got my car a year ago let me list the problems. I have had to replace the brakes that was at 20 thousand miles I put the NISMO pads on at a cost of almost 800 dollars! mind you I dont drive it hard I mean that! The factory wouldnt warranty it because its "wear" and use! I bought new rims for it hear a growling noise bring it in they say its normal had a tire blow out on me and I had to pay for the rim and tire not to mention there was a recall because of some problem with alignment yet I voided that by putting after market rims on it! The heater just went out havent found out if thats covered by warranty or not yet and the head lamps fog up not due to moisture some BS. thats all I can fit

  • Road Noise a REAL PROBLEM! - 2004 Nissan 350Z
    By -

I purchased my Z new in March of 2003. The dealership (Thopmson Nissan in Doylestown, PA) is the best in terms of service which is why I bought it there. The problem is inherent in the vehicle though. Ever since I bought it, I get so much excess road noise, from the car being inherently out of alignment, that its just not as fun to drive as I thought it would be. In fact thousands of Z owners have the same opinion who have 2003 year models.

  • PROBLEMS - 2004 Nissan 350Z

I have had nothing but problems with my 350z. Ive been through 2 transmissions now in only 10,000 miles. I have also had problems with my windows and my stereo. My z has been in the shop for 4weeks out of the 6 months Ive owned it.
