Overview & Reviews
Diesel fans, rejoice! After years of waiting, a Mercedes-Benz diesel is once again available in the States, as the E320 CDI joins the lineup. For now, this model is only 45-state certified, meaning that it's unavailable in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont. Beginning in March 2005, the base E320 becomes the E350 with the addition of a 3.5-liter V6 with 51 more horsepower. At the same time, a sport package will be added, which features upgraded suspension tuning and wheels, as well as steering wheel-mounted shift buttons. Complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.
- Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
- More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

The Best E Class Ive had yet - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By krudolph - November 1 - 2:30 pmIve driven this car for two years, and it is the best E Class yet. It is fun to drive, and with four snow tires it is very good in the snow. I am going to get a E550 4Matic. I got 23 mpg on the highway with the air conditioner running and 16-17 mpg around town.

Better than gas - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By RGB - October 12 - 10:20 pmI owned a gasoline engine E320 Sport and was dissatisfied with the acceleration, fuel economy and ride. This diesel puts the gas model to shame. This is the best car Ive owned in 40 years of driving. Averaging over 30 mpg with mainly in-town driving.

MB E320 CDI - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By RBinford - October 12 - 6:10 pmWe had a 2002 Mercedes C230 prior to this vehicle and it was wonderful. However, after having a child we decided that we needed a larger car. We looked at all of the different models of the E-Class and decided after driving all and talking with our sales rep that the 2005 E320 CDI was our best option. We havent regreted it one moment.

Rocket sled - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Attorney Scott - October 12 - 6:16 amI traded in a C6 Corvette because I didnt like getting pulled over every other day by cops wanting to eyeball it. This is much more discreet, until one notices the four tailpipes and V8 Kompressor badges. It corners more confidently in high-speed sweepers than the Vette did, and accelerates just as hard, even harder in roll-on acceleration. I notice other reviewers have given it high marks in fuel economy - not me, I average about 11 mpg.

Best car I have ever owned - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By anna - September 30 - 1:30 pmThis is the best car that I have ever owned! The ride is smooth. The weight of the vehicle makes me feel safe. I have had the vehicle for 18 months and it has been in the repair shop one time for an oil change. The overall size of the vehicle makes it easy to manuever in traffic. The sound system in the vehicle is awsome. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Diesel for me - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Jon - September 29 - 8:46 amPricey, but very reliable, quick, and economical. On a road trip I averaged 35.0 mpg for a big heavy solid car. Just wish Benz, would put the diesel in a sport utility for sale in US.

Sweet CDI - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By granite - January 30 - 9:40 pmThis is the vehicle that blows away all the old dirty diesel tales. Its quiet, burns clean and with all the torque available, absolutely hauls the mail. Add to those qualities the fact that I get almost 38 mpg on the highway (Reno to Phoenix on one tank)...the fuel efficiency increases with high average speeds (75-85)...and about 30 mpg in town. If youre on the highway a lot...you gotta go for the 6CD changer and Sirius system (whens the IPOD dock coming?!)...COMAND is cool. Im never leaving this car.
