This Year's Model Updates:

Diesel fans, rejoice! After years of waiting, a Mercedes-Benz diesel is once again available in the States, as the E320 CDI joins the lineup. For now, this model is only 45-state certified, meaning that it's unavailable in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont. Beginning in March 2005, the base E320 becomes the E350 with the addition of a 3.5-liter V6 with 51 more horsepower. At the same time, a sport package will be added, which features upgraded suspension tuning and wheels, as well as steering wheel-mounted shift buttons. Complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

Great car, much improved over previous MB diesel, much quieter, no smoke, plenty of power from a dead stop.

Class and sass! After being loyal to BMW for the last 9 consecutive years, I didnt think MBenz could change me. After seeing, then driving the "05 E500 I was in love! I cannot believe all the luxury features in this vehicle from ventillated seats and seat heaters to seats that massage your lumbar area and power bolsters in the front seats that hug you at every turn! It drives very smooth and quiet (you almost forget the tiger under the hood). For the extra dollars the V8 cost over its sister V6 version, it has proven to be more than worth it. Besides getting the obvious boost in HP, the V8 has features that are standard on it that would be an option on the V6. I truly adore this car!

I did a lot of shopping around before I chose the E-class Mercedes. I dont feel that I could have found a better car for me. Its classy, but yet sporty at the same time. The sleek lines in its design, make the E-class a true eye catcher. Im truly happy.

I had owned a 2002 Mercedes C240. All the news and great reviews on the new Diesel model caught my attention. I went for it. The 2002 C240 was a great car. I did not expect any car could get better - but the 2005 Mercedes E320 CDI Diesel is fantastic!

Im loving it so far. I only have it for four weeks, and enjoying very minute of it. I enjoy the comfort and the luxury of a 57K car.

  • Happy with E320 wagon - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This has turned out to be an excellent purchase choice for a luxury car. Went with a wagon instead of a sedan and very happy to have done so. Much more flexible, better ride and handling. Constant 24 to 26 mpg on daily 30 mile freeway commute. Best mileage on long trips around 28 to 29 mpg. The electric rear tailgate door is a must. Makes grocery trips and other loading with hands full a breeze. Very comfortable ride and handling in town and out on the open road.

We bought our 05 CDI with 48K on it 1 year ago tomorrow so I thought this would be a good time to right a review since I came here to read a bunch before I bought it. This car is a joy to drive and has been nothing but great for us. We downsized from an 07 Suburban because we really didnt need the room anymore and the Suburban is hard to give up if youve ever driven one. Great mileage, pretty much 28 in town and 35-37ish highway. This car feels safe, drives great, is quiet and has been bulletproof. I had one service issue, a door lock problem. The extended warranty covered it for 100 bucks. Drive one and put your foot into it. The diesel torque will put a smile on your face, I promise.

  • Total Package - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car is one for the ages -- in the proper exterior color and interior package it will turn heads. The power this car possesses almost got me locked up already for running against a Corvette in the city. Handling at high speeds is rather impressive, and the brakes are very responsive (almost too responsive at times. The nav system is very easy to operate and the heated and dynamic seats are luxuries that once you have them, they are now a must on any car you will ever purchase in the future. Rides extremely smooth and comfortable and after a few spins in it; youll definitely feel why you spent what you did on it. This car is for mature adults only!!
