This Year's Model Updates:

Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Pros:
  • Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
Cons:
  • Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

A truly amazing van! No initial problems and I am very impressed with the fit and finish, great ride, power, 5 spd. auto tranny, comfort, braking and handling. I dont understand the 15/20 mpg. I have been getting 23-25 mpg in city and highway mix and the engine is not even broken in yet. This was a wonderful surprise!

we didnt expect it to perform like a Honda, but we were hoping for atleast Winstar quality...we got yugo! To date, we have replaced: a #2 engine cylinder 2 (TWO) catalytic converters the drivers seat belt/airbag system an oxygen sensor the drivers cup holder (TWICE) (which is insult to injury b/c they brag about their cup holders) and the factory stereo each fix requires 2 trips to the dealer...with a long wait in between for the part to arrive This vehicle has only 33,000 miles on it DO NOT PURCHASE this vehicle (check milage of vehicles people gave high ratings...everything fell apart at 20,000 miles)

The car run fine, I like it so far. I got a basic LX w/o ABS, roof rack and CD but for less than $16K, I cant even get a 4 cyl camry. Quality is pretty good, the only thing I would like to complain is the space behind 3rd seat is too small, otherwise it is great. The only problem so far is my first 600 miles of the car, about 360 miles is to and from dealer, not the cars problem, but the dealers problem, first, they cant install alarm cos it was too late, 2nd, they install a cheaper alarm, 3rd finally they installed the right alarm but have to leave the car their for whole day but I got a loaner. BTW, I am about 60mi one way to go there.

  • so far, so good - 2002 Kia Sedona

I bought mine with the leather, moonroof, homelink and ABS options for 22,400. I probably could have got it for less if I had started the negotiating at a lower price, because the salesman sold it to me almost right away. The NBC Dateline report on the Insurance Institutes crash test results are a little troubling, but I believe those are only used to test the cost of the damage to the car, and do not conflict with the governments 5-star crash ratings. But I am worried that the report will result in increased insurance costs. Friends and neighbors who have looked at it have all been impressed. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a van

Ive had little problems with my van at all - and Ive put it through some serious testing. Ive had great service at the service dept. and they have done way more than I ever expected. I have friends that have more problems with their Toyota Camry and GMC truck than I have with my Kia. Its our first new car and we couldnt be happier!

my friend from denver was impressed when we wheeled into the airport with our new sedona. he raved about the ride, handling, and styling both inside and out. couldnt believe the price. excellent. figured it would be at least 5,000 more than we spent for it.

  • Im Thrilled with my Sedona - 2002 Kia Sedona

The most affordable minivan with the most comfort features for the price and its a great riding vehicle as well. Many people have commented that it looks more like an SUV than a minvan. Its perfect for those family trips. We have one child and can fit all of his things and ours well. ONe of the only two minivans that has a power moonroof available as an option... That was a must for me.

  • Poor Reliability - 2002 Kia Sedona

Eight months after we bought the van it had an electrical problem. Five more electrical problems in about two and half years, we sold the van. Dealer would say I left copper pennies in the outlets -- I pay for them to fix. Then within 24 hours, they would have to come get it for the same problem. This time it was the alternator. Less than 24 hours they have to come get it again, say it was the battery (this would be the third battery in this van / had to pay for prorated battery). That was the last straw. Other items replaced on van included air compressor, left fog light bulb, cargo bulb, radio replaced, and lumbar switch.

We purchased our two-tone Sedona EX in Spet. 2002 with leather, rear AC and sunroof. My wife has put 8K on it already and we have had zero problems. Very solid build quality an execellent transmission. The ONLY rattle comes from the third row seats on occassions. I had a friend who knows cars sit in it without seeing the name. He looked around, felt the materials and said, "Is this a new Acura minivan or something?"
