This Year's Model Updates:

Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Pros:
  • Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
Cons:
  • Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

  • Best Mini out there period. - 2002 Kia Sedona

This car is the quintessential, fully functional, total comfort and with all the bells and whistles. Guys.. and Mothers or soon to be parents... THIS IS THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK! Kias SEDONA Mini van stands apart from the over priced tins out there period. With a totally fully equipted one you still walk away with enough money saved or in my opion enough money for the Plasma 40" flat screen or a down payment on a cool sexy Mercedes SLK, CLK

  • Surprise, surprise! - 2002 Kia Sedona

I looked at all the vans on the market before deciding on a Kia. Never thought I would buy a Kia but was impressed by the overall value and quality of this van. Since we bought the van I have not changed my impression a bit. The van rides great and looks good too (for a van). The interior features and quality are outstanding. Comfortable and functional, this van is hard to beat.

  • Nice minivan! - 2002 Kia Sedona

I bought my Kia Sedona in November 2001. I did have one problem about two weeks later when the moon roof decided to open on its own. I took it back to a Kia dealership and it was repaired quickly and Ive had no other problems. Oh, the dealer who sold me the Sedona said it had anti-lock brakes and when I got mine home, it was brand new, including the wrapping paper, I found out this EX version did not have anti- lock brakes. Grrr. But, I am still happy with my Kia Sedona.

  • David vs. Goliath - 2002 Kia Sedona

Any moron who is willing to pay 15K+ or more for a comparable equipped Dodge, Ford, Pontiac, or Honda should deserve to pay for the name. David beats Goliath - no contest.

  • Great Ride for the money - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

Compared to other mini vans out there, the Kia Sedona is a lot of van for the money. There are a lot of items that come standard in the kia, such as the rear air and power locks, that is optional in many other mini vans. I was really surprised at how well the van travels on the highway. It was a smoothe fast ride. The breaks have squeaked from the first few months. We had them checked and we were told that it is nothing to worry about. The trunk is a little hard to pull down. Other than that, we are very pleased.

  • Good Minivan,Eexcellent Value - 2002 Kia Sedona

Interior - quality materials, convenient, well designed, comfortable seats, upscale feel with leather. Excellent stereo. Powertrain - Responsive in spite of 4800 lb weight. Very few warranty issues. Solid, reliable, well-built vehicle. Enjoyable to drive and travel in this vehicle. Smooth and quiet. Fuel economy - we get 20 mpg overall, 22-23 highway @ 75mph, 17 mpg city. Value - outstanding value. Loaded for low $20s Features- Lacks some key features in this segment: foldaway 3rd seat, all wheel drive, power sliding doors, etc. Has some nice features that others lack: moonroof, pwr passenger seat, pwr rear windows, Homelink, etc Excellent warranty & safety ratings.

After 7,000 miles the van started to experience problems, Alternator problems, broken plastics, transmission oil leak, air conditioning(3 times), Speed meter fluctations, driver window fault and now the van is shuting down the engine while runing. In puerto Rico the warranty is 36,000 miles and now Im stock with a van that is a safety concern

  • minor things but a GREAT buy! - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

Hi, Compared to other models, we saved close to $5,000 with $1,000 rebate. The main reasons that we bought Kia Sedona are the followings: Safety (5 stars!), price, and Warranty 10 year/100,00 miles! You just cant beat that. Now the test, my wife is the main driver for the van, and she just LOVES it. Now the minor negatives. Everything was ok until after 3 months there was rust right above the license plate holder. The rust was dripping down from where the bolts were. I think it was coming from the non-stainless bolts. Another thing is the dome light. The light doesnt come on when the wether is cold.

  • Okay, but... - 2002 Kia Sedona

We bought this van new in 02, really like most features. Engine light came on and the dealer can not fix it. Through arbitration with BBB, I am receiving a new one. Factory and dealer had problems following through with their written deadlines. Selling new van when it arrives, not because of the van but because the dealer and factory are hard to work with.

  • Best van out there! - 2002 Kia Sedona

We bought our Sedona in 2002 and have put over 120,000 miles on it. It is very reliable and comfortable. We get about 14 mpg in city and 24 on hiway. 2002 was the first year for this car, and ours was built early in the year. We read the reviews before we bought, and knew that certain things would break, and they did, and they were covered by the warranty. Kia put stronger versions of those parts on vans sold later in the year, so if youre buying a used one, look at the MFG date and get one built later in the year. Example: transmission and engine mounts, and sun roof cable. When ours broke, we discovered they had changed the spec to different, stronger ones.
