This Year's Model Updates:

Kia joins the minivan rumble with the introduction of the Sedona, the lowest-priced minivan in America. Standard on the Sedona are such niceties as air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and auto on/off headlights. Upscale EX models get a CD player, interior wood trim and power front seats. All Sedonas benefit from Kia's impressive Long Haul Warranty with drivetrain protection for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Pros:
  • Unbeatable price, attractive array of standard goodies, great warranty package.
Cons:
  • Missing some key minivan features, engine could use more power.

  • great minivan! - 2002 Kia Sedona
    By -

My dad bought this van years ago, and now I drive it to and from work very often. It is a great van, and we havent really had many problems with it. However, if a door is not shut properly, it will wear down the battery. Otherwise, it is great and very reliable. The outer paint is a little worn due to high temperatures when we go to the desert, but it doesnt affect the cars performance. I have not seen any of the problems with transmission, A/C, or anything else and the van is almost at 38,000 miles.

  • Best van ever - 2002 Kia Sedona

I have owned several mini vans-all GMs.The Kia is way above these in quality and price. The van is exceptional in design in and out and I look forward to spending several years driving this vehicle. Handling and fit/finish are excellent. Gas mileage is so so. Probably because the van is so heavy and has earned 5 stars across the board for crash worthiness!

  • Thinking of Buying the Sedona? - 2002 Kia Sedona

Just a review from someone who has heard a lot of bad stuff about KIA. Check out the warranty. If it lasts longer than how long youre going to pay on it.we compared this 2002 Sedona to the Dodge or Chrysler mini-van in its class, among others...and you just cant beat it. The price, the interior. It looks good it feels good to drive. Although I was dissapionted that I had to pay extra for ABS . I have to rate my overall experience ,So far so Good! Ive heard lots about the sephias and the sportages having really bad luck in 1999. But I encourage you to look at the current years product, youll be impressed.

  • Outstanding! - 2002 Kia Sedona

When the deal fell through at Honda, I researched and discovered the Kia and an extra $7K discovered my wallet! Std features are: fog lgts, tranny cooler, long wrnty, cd/cass, pwr front seats, rr window controls in the rr front, 4 glove boxes plus cd storage. The missing minivan items are: power rear doors, (magic) seat, entertainment system, traction control. For those who think $10K is better to have than such "features", I unequivocally recommend a test drive.

  • Great Deal - 2002 Kia Sedona

I am a new owner so I cannot say much about the vehicle other than the great value that I got in this purchase. I purchased an EX model fully loaded and paid $21K. All the other vans I looked at were all $30K+ for the same features. And on top of it all the 10 year warranty.

  • We Love our Sedona - 2002 Kia Sedona

The Sedona is everything and more then we thought it would be. I cannot believe all the features is has for the price. The ride is unbelievable. I am afraid of getting a speeding ticket, it just flies when you drive it and it is so smooth. I would not hesitate to look at other KIAs when I need another vehicle.

  • Dealer Good, Van Lousy - 2002 Kia Sedona

We have had numerous repairs for our 2002 Kia Sedona EX. However, the dealer has been great about doing all repairs under the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. Sometimes repair work is slow, but the dealer always tries, and never charges anything. Biggest problems with the car are bad gas mileage (but the heavy weight makes it a nice interstate cruiser) and weak A/C. Strange problem we have had is bad transmissions. Would not go in reverse at all, two repairs with rebuilt KIA trannys did not work, but the ultimate new KIA tranny at 40,000 seemed to work. However, we are having the knocking again now, at 50,000, so we may be up for another tranny. Great dealer, lousy vehicle.

  • Very good buy for the money - 2002 Kia Sedona

A well built mini van, waited too long for a Honda, so decided on the EX with all the options for under $24K on the road. Thought I could have gotten a better deal but what the heck. The dealership seems to be on my side as far as any work to be done (a couple scrapes to be taken care of) so well see what happens there. The van rides great otherwise, hope the warranty holds true. One question? Can I get some other place to change the oil without warranty problems? The salesamn told me I had to use Kia filters.

  • very happy - 2002 Kia Sedona

Once we test drove the Kia we were hooked. The power is very sufficient and the fit and finish feels high quality. The size is very comfortable, with an extraordinary amount of legroom throughout. The standard feature list is wonderful (EX)especially for the price tag, amazing. I saved so much money by choosing the Kia that I got an aftermarket video system installed. The only hesitation we had was the fact that it was a Kia. We worried about the quality, but the great warranty was enough to offset those fears. Do I have any pride of ownership dilemmas with my Kia? Nope. I feel very proud of my smart purchase.

  • $21,000 sold us - 2002 Kia Sedona

As I type this our 2002 EX is on the back of a wrecker to the dealer. Was at a fast-food and the radio went off, then the dash lights got dim, then the abs-engine-seat belt / other lights came on in dash. Turned off AC, dash lights got bright. Turn-off engine, would not start. This is the 4th time in 2 and half years this has occurred. AC compr.,lumbar switch, and radio have been replaced. Kia will charge the battery and find no problem. We will sell once out of shop.
