This Year's Model Updates:

An AM/FM/CD stereo and a tilt steering wheel are now standard on all 2004 Jeep Wrangler models. A new aluminum wheel design is standard on Sahara models and optional on Sport models. Right-hand-drive versions are also available for fleet utility service. A Columbia Edition option package is also new for 2004.

Pros:
  • Cheap, fun to drive, classic styling, go-anywhere capability.
Cons:
  • Soft top a handful to manipulate, difficult ingress-egress, slow steering, bouncy suspension on the street.

  • Great for what it does. - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

This is THE BEST offroad vehicle stock, period. I wish it had a bit of a lift and a little wider tires, but I can understand that lawyers are involved. But its a great platform to build on with stock lockers, Dana44 axles, beefy transfer case, etc. Make no mistake, this is built for offroad, so it wont ride like a minivan. Lots of the features are for offroad only. (For the guy who "broke" his lockers...never, never, never, never use the lockers on-road. Ever. The fact that you have to shift into 4Low and not driving faster than 10mph should be a clue they were intended for rock crawling, not grocery getting).

  • Jeep Unlimited is great - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

This is the first Jeep Wrangler. I previously had Jeep Cherokees. Here in the Tampa Bay area we have been besieged by HURRICANES giving me the opportuntiy to tow about ten idiots out of flooded streets including a Honda CRV suv. I felt great about that. I easily tow my 2500 Lb. boat. I put the sunrider top down for a summer day. I love this vehicle. The car is quiet, comfortable and rock solid. I know the engine is reliable. I put 200,000 miles on two cherokees and the Wrangler has the same in line 6 cylinder engine. You cannot go wrong with this rig.

This is one type of car/truck/SUV that everyone wants. We have owned sports cars, trucks and minivans but I have always wanted a Wrangler. This is the most fun you can have in anything out there. We live in NE Ohio about 60 miles south of Lake Erie. Just last week it was 72 degrees on a Friday and 10 inches of snow on Sunday morning. Our Wrangler has handled everything our weather has thrown at us. From winter snows to the top down fun in the summer; you just cant find that in any other SUV.

  • Rubicon is the way to go - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

This is the fourth new jeep I have purchased and it is the best one yet. Starting with an 1978 Levi CJ7 to a 1981 CJ5 next to a 1987 Wrangler and this Rubicon goes places here in Arizona where the others would not.

  • Its a Jeep thing - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

All of these reviews are starting to frustrate me. If you are looking for a cheap car that rides like a Cadillac Deville and has design like an Aston Martin Vanquish, give up. If you are one of those people who expect to get into a Wrangler and enjoy the same type of experience that you would have in a regular sedan, here is my advice to you: Give up. The Jeep Wrangler community is a special breed of automotive enthusiasts. Thats why whenever Wrangler drivers pass each other on the street, they wave. Basically what it comes down to is that its simply a Jeep thing, and you may or may not understand.

  • You get what you get - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Hey, if you buy a jeep, youre not going to get a luxury car. You get a fun to drive, reliable, off-road machine! Laugh at everyone that gets stuck in the snow, and feel the summer wind in your face with the top down. Live life! own a jeep.

  • Me and my Rubi.... - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

Ive had my silver/black Rubicon now for just two weeks, but so far the experience has been great. When comparing this to a 95 Wrangler Sport 4.0L that I owned, Ive noticed night and day differences in some areas. The soundproofing from road noise is much better! Interior comfort level is vastly better. The Sound System is HUGELY better (7 speaker system in the new one). The biggest difference, in a negative light, is that my new Rubicon is a Dog... Ive got the 4.0L Inline 6, with the 5 speed manual tranny, and its not quick by any means (my 95 was better). Not to mention the terrible gas mileage. On a positive note, Dual Tops are Great!
