This Year's Model Updates:

Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.

Pros:
  • Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

  • Still enjoying the new car "Buzz" - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I took the Jag on a windy mountain road for the first time, wow. The AWD was a definate improvement, as there seemed to be no limits to the amount of accel. in the curves. Truely thrilling. Even with the 2.5 L engine, there seemed no lack of power. I test drove the 3.0, and although there was a noticeable increase in HP, it was not appreciable. I commute 120+ miles/day, so I went for the mileage, rather than the power, and I dont regret it.

  • Well pleased - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Had it since May 03. The car is everything that I expected. I get as many, nice car, comments from people as I do in my 02 Thunderbird. Handling and quality are great. I have had no problems with it.

  • Tabs Jag is all PRRR and no GRRRR - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I purchased my 2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 in January 0f 2008 and I love it. It was a blessing that fell in my lap and once I saw what a great deal it was I couldnt pass it up. Well, 4 months later I am deftly happy with it. I have had no issues whatsoever and it gets many head nods. I just tell all the people who think I must be cavorting a lot more money than they thought to be driving it, that a blessing came my way and it keeps blessing me over and over again. It is grey with woodgrade integrated with the black leather interior. Also, yes it has a pretty sleek look and everyone loves it. I appreciate and love it!!

  • No other premium offers this much for $ - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Ive considered a Saab 9-3 and an Audi A4 when deciding. Theyre both great cars, but the Jaguar X-Type offered more options, more character, more driving enjoyment, more emotional involvement than any other at the price. Every trip in this car is a special occasion. Reliability and quality has been far above my expectations so far.

No problems; no regrets. I recommend a 3.0 over the 2.5.

  • Beautiful Cat - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Ive owned my Jag a little over a year now, its power and handling is impressive. This Jag is as beautiful inside as it is on the outside. The 3.0 handles my heavy foot. At first I did not like the AWD till driving through a heavy snow and I was then glad to have it. People who see it look then look again, and I cant help but smile and say "yes its a Jag".

  • Great car-as long as its under warranty - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Purchased my 03 X-Type 3.0 as a Select Edition certified car. It is truly a wonderful vehicle despite its poor reputation. The drive is very smooth, the engine quiet and refined. The leather and wood wraps you in luxury that feels much more expensive than what the car actually costs. Prepare to get to know your service advisor if you purchase one of these cars, however. In the 5 months that Ive had mine, its been in the shop for about a month. No major problems have been encountered, just replacing parts that had rattles, whines, vibrations, etc. As long as its under warranty, I want as smooth a ride as I can get

After falling in love with this car at the auto show back in February I spent all year convincing myself I needed to buy one. With a 191,000 miles on my 10 yr old Park Ave, I figured its only a matter of time before it died. Taking advantage of year end close out sales I found myself a 2.5 sport package in British Racing Green. What a beautiful car! I bought the car thinking I would still drive the Buick until its death. I now have almost 6,000 miles on the Jag and spend no time in the Buick.

  • Buy new every four years - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Bought my Jag used with 12,000 miles. Dealer gave us two new tires. At 22,000 had to replace all 4, this was with proper rotation schedule. Needed brakes every 30,000. It has always hated cold weather even though it was garage kept. Major hose repairs at 30,000. New battery at 60,000. Key fob still unlocks, up close. Driver door lock system had to be replaced. Drivers door panel fell off due to broken clips, twice! Not to mention the constant repair of the passenger side defroster vent so it would not rattle. Also found rust starting on hood, almost one year after rust warranty has ended. Have 78,000 miles. The engine light is on again. Trading this week. What a relief! Kept cause no payment.

  • Love My Jag! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type

I just bought a "certifed" Jaguar 2 months ago. The car is fun to drive, responsive and very comfortable. It came very well equipped. If your looking for an X type--buy used. The depreciation is very high on a new X type which is why I went used.
