Overview & Reviews
Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.
- Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

Love the "baby" cat - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By oldengineer - March 14 - 10:00 amHave put over 5000 miles on X-Type 2.5 automatic with no problems. Performance is about equal to competition. Exterior styling and interior are more elegant. Cornering is excellent with AWD. Car has great traction in wet conditions. In my book BMW325 and little Lexus dont compare.

Jag Envy: Gen X - Type - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By dasan7 - March 14 - 10:00 amMy first Jaguar. Ive always wanted a Jag, but didnt want the "old man" looking style of the XJ. I was looking at Mercedes, BMW. None of the models I looked at compare to this car! The style, and feel of driving this car blows away the competition. My neighbor bought a new Nissan of some type. He was livid, absolutely beside himself with envy when I parked my Jag next to him.

Life Long Buick Man - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Life long Buick Man - December 25 - 7:23 pmAfter toying for many years with the idea of "upgrading", I couldnt get excited about anything but a Jaguar. The interior is soothingly comfortable and the exterior is exciting. This car is the smoothest, quietest car Ive ever owned and the 2.5 motor will have me collecting speeding tickets if Im not careful. I get 26 mpg around town and still look for opportunities to just get out and drive. Im 6-2 but the interior fits me fine. I love the looks and comments I get and that it looks more expensive then it is. I cant imagine ever needing more then this - "Baby Jag" delivers!

Jag X Type-Move over BMW - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By TJ2003 - December 19 - 10:00 amIf youre considering purchasing a MW series or an Audi A4 you owe to yourself to look into the Jaguar X Type. The sytle and smoooth ride of this baby is heads above the rest and all for a little over $30K. AWD is standatrd in this vehicle and cat be beat. It handles superbly and corners better than my Cobra.

AWOL Performance - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Dave in Texas - December 19 - 10:00 amAlthough the 2.5 X-Type doesnt jump off the starting line, it makes up for it in comfort, style and affordability. The X-Type is much more comfortable that my 99 Cadillac Catera and a lot more stylish but just not as zippy. The Sport mode helps some as does the J-Shift automatic transmission. All in all, this entry-level Jaguar is a great buy. Routine maintenance coverage is an unexpected bonus.

Can You Resist ? - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Simply the Best . - December 9 - 4:13 pmI have owned 4 Infiniti G20t prior to this 2003 Jaguar X-type. I have owned many other automobiles also and this is by far the best. I am a Jaguar owner for life. The car is awesome, handles really well, grips the road as if it had claws. So comfortable and quiet, love the purr of the engine as it takes off with no hesitation. Beautiful interior and exterior. You can`t help but to turn around and give it another glance while walking away. I love my Jaguar!

2 years and still enjoying my X - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Varilux - November 16 - 1:03 amPurchased a certified used 5 spd/2.5L X-Type in 3/05 (had 12k miles). 2 years and 18k miles later, the only issues have been a popping air vent (fixed under warranty) and a drivers door handle that intermittently sticks. Handles like a dream (the AWD is amazing), but could use just a bit more punch in 1st gear. Acceleration from 20 mph on is just fine. Quiet ride and gets compliments everywhere I go. Very satisfied with performance, reliability, and gas mileage (24 mpg with 50/50 highway and local driving, and I tend to punch it a lot). Looking to upgrade to either a 3.0 X-Type Sport or used XK8 next year.

By Lawrence Sher - October 31 - 10:00 amI have never ever experienced such a nice car. It is well built, solid and drives so nice, the 4 wheel drive is fantastic, to all out there from and ex BMW and Mercedes the Jag is 10 times better and sitting on those leather seats smelling the rich leather wow, I just cant wait every morning to get to my car.

Excellent car!!! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By johnadarin - October 25 - 2:00 amI love the power, the beauty and the 4 wheel drive in the snow and ice. The rear seats fold down which allows me to transport things on occasion. Great buy and beautiful fast car
