This Year's Model Updates:

Jaguar beefs up its presence in the luxury category with the X-Type, a brand-new model that brings the company's range to four. The X-Type is a fresh breed of cat for the manufacturer: it's Jaguar's first-ever all-wheel-drive vehicle, and it's priced to tap the entry-luxury segment.

Pros:
  • Reasonable pricing, sporty handling, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual tranny.
Cons:
  • Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

  • Love the baby Jag - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

Fantastic car--picked it over the Merc and BMW. Everyone i show loves it. My father now wants to buy one. The interior is fantastic for the price. Few hiccups to date--leaking windshield sprayer, out of alignment on delivery, noisy driveshaft (apparently people have these problems with this car--all were fixed under warranty, driveshaft still slightly noisy during cold.)

  • Goodbye to my SUV - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

Ive been driving my new 2.5 X type Jag. for about a week. It is hard to believe you get this much bang for your buck. It was about the same MSRP as my Nissan Pathfinder, which I thought was a great car too, but this is real comfort. The inclusion of scheduled maintainance, road service and a loaner is the cherry on top of the ice cream. It is truly a luxery car and I like it better than my Mercedes

  • So far so good - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

Bought used 2002 X-Type 2.5 for my wife whose 95 XJ6 finally bit the dust. Car has about 1 year left of certified pre-owned Jag warranty and 58K miles. Car is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Not a rocket but is ok to get around town. Took long trip in Texas and performed well, but I found the seats a bit tiresome on long drives. Tranny shifts quickly and smoothly.

  • A lot of little car. - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

I have owned this car for 8 months now and I believe I am sold on Jaguar for life. It is such a joy to drive at any speed. You can really feel the road with this car and you have to make a conscious effort to push it to the edges of its performance envelope. I have the sport suspension and manual trans and when I get on a twisty road I really want to wring it out. The car is very quiet with respect to wind and the all wheel drive and traction control systems are top notch. The engine will rev to 7000rpm and has power from about 1500 rpm on up. After owning about 20 cars I cannot praise this car enough if you like performance in your subtile family sedan.

  • A car to Enjoy - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

Have had the car a month. Love it to death...it I could sleep with it I would. The 3.0 liter has buttery smooth acceleration with plenty of passing and get-up-and-go umph. Exterior and interior styling and finish exudes pur class. More room upfront than the audi a4 and more elegant than the Bimmer. AWD (espeicially with Dynamic Stability Control) make like you feel your on rails especially in a torrential downpour...cant wait to try it in winter!!!!

  • Glad I didnt take the bad reviews to heart - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

After reading several bad reviews I decided to give it a try, as my Lincoln LS was given bad reviews and I loved it. I have owned this car 1 week and it is great! I do know the transmission takes some getting used to but if you can get used to it, this car is very nice. I loved my LS but let me tell you this car is all its cracked out to be and more! I love it and recommend anyone who really enjoys a luxury sports sedan to give it a try. Yes its not a perfect 10 but its very darn close. My desciption "FUN AND CLASSY"!!! Very nice car and the AWD is just a bonus.

  • A Ford Contour w/ wood & leather - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

Unfortunately, this cars mainframe is that of a Ford Mondeo (European Contour). And it drives like a Ford, save the $ 20k for the wood and leather.

  • Very Pleased - Love it - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

I looked at many other entry-level sport sedans...but the X-type just grabbed my eye. I love its looks, its exceptional. I have many complete strangers tell me its a beautiful car. I love to drive it, the 5 speed manual is great fun. The alpine stereo is excellent. I love the interior styling and the way it handles on the road especially when revving the engine at 4000 to 6500 RPMs

  • Best buy, best car - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

No words to describe just feeling as you drive.....

  • NICE AWD, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GET IT - 2002 Jaguar X-Type

FOR THE MONEY YOU CAN DO NO BETTER. PEOPLE THINK ITS A 60,000 DOLLAR CAR. ITS NICE AND REASONABLE. INSURANCE WITH 100 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLES IS RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP AT 400/6MONTHS. ITS RATED AS A COMPACT BECAUSE IT GETS SUCH GOOD MILEAGE. YOU WONT REGRET IT. IM A HAPPY CAMPER WITH MINE. ;)
