This Year's Model Updates:

The sedan receives exterior styling revisions with a new hood, grille, bumpers, side sills, taillights and wheels. Sedans now make as much power as the coupes -- 280 hp (up from 260) and 270 lb-ft of torque (also up from 260) on models with an automatic transmission. Coupes and sedans equipped with a manual transmission get even more power (298 hp) but sacrifice 10 lb-ft of torque. Sedans with the sport suspension package also pick up 18-inch wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. All G35s get a redesigned instrument panel and console area with aluminum or wood trim, and the manual transmission has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort. A Sport version of the coupe debuts this year and includes an even firmer suspension, a limited-slip differential, 19-inch forged alloy wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. Oddly, though, Brembo brakes are no longer available on manual-shift coupes.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, balanced and capable handling, roomy cabin, reasonable price.
Cons:
  • Average interior materials quality, touchy brakes.

Positives: Great car, overall. Exceptional power and comfort. Good visibility for changing lanes and backing. Various climate and stereo controls take some getting use to but make sense once mastered. My AWD X model is great in snow and the best thing going for slippery roads. The G35 is much more stable in dicey road conditions than my former Audi Quattro. Negatives: Optional mud guards do not prevent stone chips from occuring between the rear wheel wells and rear doors. Paint quality is a bit shabby. Dealer service rep (Elk Grove California) was not at all helpful with respect to addressing a couple of issues that I brought up during the 3,500 mile service.

Love the car. Be prepared to lay out a lot of money on tires if you buy the sport tuned suspension package. I got 16,000 miles out of the first set of tires and had to spend $1,500.00 for new Michelins. In the long run it is worth it because the car brings me great happiness every day. The only complaint that I have is the right rear brake has squeaked since the day I drove off the lot and the dealer has been rather unresponsive.

I just bought this car yesterday and I LOVE IT! I have been looking at Infinitis for over 2 years and am glad I stayed with them. This car has power beyond dreams, comfort and style along with elegance and class. I only wish tinted windows were part of the package but I will be taking it in on Monday! I have driven a Durango for the last 6 years so the mileage isnt a huge issue and the power makes it well worth it!

7 Months & 5,500 miles into this car and I am as happy with this car today as the day I picked it up from the dealer. Test drove BMW 325 before purchasing the G35 Coupe. And here are the main reasons why I picked the G35. 1) Looks, the G35 is very unique, stylish and classy. BMW 3 Series is also very stylish and classy but come dime a dozen in my city. 2) G35 had a very noticeable acceleration and torque advantage. 3) The G35 was approx. $2K less and insurance was also less expensive. 4) Cornering and handling on both cars are excellent. They do have different feels to them and in this category Ill rate them equal.

  • Nice and Sporty Entry Level Luxury Car - 2005 Infiniti G35

I bought this vehicle after I totaled my 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I wanted something very nice but not too expensive considering I was only going to finance something for about 3 years (I didnt want to keep my next car very long). I ultimately decided on a used luxury car and found this. It is a great car. It is fast, very comfortable, drives smoothly, luxurious, and actually gets ok gas mileage. I like it much better than my Eclipse. Drives amazing at 66,000 miles.

A great car for the winter. I just logged 150 miles on a snowy highway trip in Upstate NY. The car handled great -- it really sticks to the road. I plan to get snow tires next season (even with the AWD, since AWD drive does nothing to help stop the car on snow and ice) but the factory supplied all seasons did well. The G35X replaced a 99 Passat GLS (V6) -- a great car until suspension problems (with an $1100 repair, recall for same) and other mechanical probles at 60K made me look for something more reliable. I purchased the 2005 G35X in February and hope to be driving it well past 60K. This car is reported to have very high reliability -- better than the Acura TL.

  • Head said BMW 330i, heart said G35 coupe - 2005 Infiniti G35

On paper, the G35 has the BMW 330i beat. but the reality is slightly different. Both are very good cars but the BMW is - technically - better: the handling, build quality and interior are simply better - BMW have had many years to perfect this car. Also, although the G35 has more out and out power than the 330i, thats misleading. The peak torque arrives at a lower RPM in the BMW which means in practice that the G35 is not quite as fast from a standing start. Once it gets going (above 4000rpm), the G35 is very fast but isnt as much fun or as easy as the BMW to "point-and-and-squirt", especially around town. All said, I bought the G35 because I didnt want to be another BMW driver...

What a beautiful car! I have had my 2005 6MT for six months now and the excitement and exhiliration of driving it has not worn off one bit. The engineering that goes into this car is amazing. Six air bags, vicious limited slip, 19" GORGEOUS rims, 300bhp, killer exhaust note, and styling that absolutely turns heads (including my own). The leather seats are gorgeous as well. My hardest decision was what color to choose. Ultimately, it was the Ivory Pearl. Just stunning. On the road, this thing does not even lean in the corners. Grip is phenomenal. I do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Difficult to drive in a 70 mph zone without speeding. Travelling at 90 mph feels like 45. You can have your Mercedes or BMW!

  • Very Poor Brake Quality - 2005 Infiniti G35

I have owned a 2005 G35X for only 21 months and it has cost me over $2,300 (no tires yet!) in maintenance expenses. Front brakes have been completely replaced and rear pads and rotors need replacing very soon. This is a very nice car to drive, but be prepared to spend big bucks in maintenance if you lease!
