This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

Great family vehicle. Plenty of room for all. 3rd row is a great option to have and its easy to work with laying seats into floor. Front seats could be more comfortable. Fairly thin on padding. Leather appears cheap and hard since day one. Could be better insulated from road noise - DO NOT BUY IF THE MODEL HAS RUN FLAT TIRES. I am irritated at Honda for the decisions on tires but will probably buy another Honda (Pilot) based on value.

More expensive compared to other minivan but its worth it. Considered Sienna but I preferred a sharper handling and more standard safety features like Side curtain airbags with roll-over sensor, Stability control etc. Kia Sedona but Honda has an excellent resale value, proven reliability and cheaper insurance for us.

  • Awful van - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Initial problem started only a few months after purchase! There was a squeaking noise with braking and dealership said it was the brake pads. It had to be replaced twice, then rotors was resurfaced. To this day, I still have problems with the brakes and they cannot find anything wrong with it. It whines at low speeds when I turn, and whines when I slowly release the brakes! After 2 1/2 years, air conditioning failed! Then the axle seal leaked. I took the van several times for vibrations when vcm was on and for a year I was told there was nothing wrong! It turns out the rear engine mount collapsed! Have changed the batteries twice. Called corporate about probs. but nothing.

This car is amazing, I actually like taking this car out, and Im only 18, it drives very well. I was recently with a big group of friends and we wouldve had to call up a 3rd car if it wasnt for the Odyssey... it hauled the required 8 people with ease. I was very pleased. The car is far more planted and composed than the Pilot that I usually drive, its very sure of itself, it has good grip. My friends seem to love the car as well, they find it very comfortable, as do I. It is a road trip maestro. However the brakes are a little wonky compared to the Pilot, the pedal travel is far too long, and it stinks when it comes time to park this thing because its so big, vs. the just stick it Pilot.

The 2006 EX-L RES/NAV Odyssey is one of the best things that our family purchased. I looked at the Toyota and would have purchased it, but the comparibly equipped Sienna came in about $2500 higher than the Odyssey. I purchased a 7 year 120k extended warranty online at an excellent price because of all the electronic gizmos that the Odyssey offers. Only time will tell on reliability. Mileage has been 16-18 in the city with 22-23 on the highway. That is with four family members and a load of stuff to support to small kids.

I was recently traveling at 65 miles an hour when I ran over a piece of metal on the interstate. I lost control of the car for a moment but managed to keep the van straight. Unfortunately, my back axle broke but the Honda handled it extremely well. I thought for sure we were about to have a horrific accident but the Honda managed to keep all four tires on the ground and we ended up on the shoulder of the road. God played the biggest part in keeping my family safe but thank you, Honda for Vehicle Stability Assist. I could feel the wheels fighting the urge to leave the road. The reason my husband and I chose this vehicle was safety and Im so pleased that the investment paid off.

Even though weve only owned this Van for 1 tank of gas, the wife and I love it already. The odyseey has great acceleration when called upon. I looked at the Sedona and Entourage but I came back to the Odyseey for the exterior good lucks, and the classier interior vs the others. I liked the 2007 Nissan Quest, now that they have moved the instrument cluster back in front of the driver, but it was very pricey compared to the Odyssey EX. Unlike others, im perfectly happy with the gas mileage. We got 22mpg from our first tank and Im sure that will improve over time. In my opinion this is by far the best looking minivan both inside and out. It drives as nice as our 2004 Accord and we love it

  • Perfect vehicle for us - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This minivan has proved itself to be perfect for our requirements. I cannot think of how it could be improved except for gas mileage. My only comment otherwise is: why does the speedometer show up to 160 mph? Much as I like my Odyssey, I do not plan to drive it at 160 mph. John Quinlan

We really like driving our Odyssey. It is very comfortable, and our family of four feels a sense of luxury because of how roomy it is. Midnight blue is an excellent color for this van.

I had an early 99 Odyssey - the first one on my street. Now, they are everywhere. Now, I have the first of the 2nd generation - I expect many more on my street. The new Odyssey has significantly more power than the 99. It also has a lot more safety features such as VSA and side curtain air bags. Steering and braking are also better. My wife didnt want the electric sliding doors so I got the LX. My sense is the VSM (running on 3 cylinders) is a good option if you do a lot of highway driving but for around town I doubt it makes much difference and the EX-L weighs several hundrend pounds more than the LX. 95% of our driving is on surface streets.
