This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
Cons:
  • Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

  • Great car for the money - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Definitely the fastest base model civic, and a real charm to drive. I put over 90,000 miles on the car in less than four years, from NYC at Friday commute to the length of Highway 1, and hour upon hour in Chicago rush hour. I had no regrets, and am not convinced that my new car will be as reliable over the next year as this car would be. The cabin is spacious and ergonomic. The speedometer is well placed and sufficiently easy to read that it becomes second nature. Visibility is certainly good enough. There are a lot of things that annoy me about this car, but it took a lot of thought and substantially more money to replace the car after years of hard use.

I have 116,000 on this car I bought in late 2005. It gets 50-52 MPG mostly freeway. I have had not a trouble with it, great car!

  • Tire Wear, Water Pump Bolts 2X, Brakes - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Have enjoyed driving car. Work done on car includes: towed twice to dealership for defective water pump bolt working into belts. Excessive tire wear. Replaced rear brakes. Droopy sun visors-what a pain-even though replaced once. Other than that regular oil change and tire rotation is all had to do. Get approximately 38 mpg in winter, 30 in summertime in Texas.

  • I still have fun driving this car! - 2006 Honda Civic

I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic in 2006 right after the new body style came out. I had 2 cars breaking down traded them both in for my Civic. Except for normal maintenance I have had no problems with the car at all. I still have fun driving it! This is an excellent gas miles car as well average 38 on the hwy and 32 in the city. I am a Honda fan for life I just purchased a 2009 Ridgeline cause I love that truck. My Honda Civic will be with me until it dies and maybe even after it does.

  • Spaceship or Car? - 2006 Honda Civic

I purchased used in Oct 09- Have loved it. I agree blind spots are a problem until you get used to them- took me about 2 months. It handled fine in the snow and hills of Pittsburgh. Standard tires were not great in the snow (and by snow I mean 2 feet) so I bought snow tires and didnt have any problem driving through unplowed streets! I love the sunroof, really makes up for the small windows in the backseat. Seats are really comfortable.

  • 2006 Honda Civic LX 4 door - 2006 Honda Civic

Have had this car for nearly 3 years now and all weve had to do is change the oil and filters. The only negatives are: Terrible and noisy Turanza EL400 Tires (which are dangerous in even a dusting of snow). Interior and exterior scratches seemingly by even looking at them. Blind-spots are bad for backing, its difficult to park properly as you cant see the corners of the car.

  • Nobody beats Honda! - 2006 Honda Civic

I purchased my Honda in late 2005 when this new body style had just came out. I absolutely love my car. I have three kids and while we are outgrowing the car, I am purchasing an Odyssey and my husband will take this one over. We also had a Honda Accord lease that we are turning in this week. We love Hondas and that is all we have owned in the last 10 years. I have had no problems with my civic, I have almost 70K miles on it now and I have replaced the tires since I drive so much. But it is fun to drive, it is a beautiful car and the gas mileage is awesome as we all know. I would not ever hesitate to purchase a Honda! Plus I have 3 uncles that are certified Honda mechanics so thats a bonus!

  • Cracked Engine Block @ 132K - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Love the car! It was a great drive but cracked engine block @ 132K???? This seems to be an epidemic now showing up on 2006/2007/2008 Civics! Honda will not cover it because of the mileage which I think is not good PR considering it is due to to a design weakness or a manufacturing defect regardless of mileage. Hoping for an eventual recall! Also, transmission had to be replaced at 132K!

  • Real n...ice but - 2006 Honda Civic

Having had over 20 Hondas personally, and a 15 career in the auto business w/Honda/Acura dealers only, I was wicked excited about the new Si. I had a 2004 Accord EX coupe, 4 banger w/5speed..decent! Well, here was a Honda that was a factory hot rod and IT IS! Just one little problem... not all the time, but when Im stressed the ride is too harsh on the bumpy New England roads!!

  • My 1st Honda - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased my 06 Civic EX Sedan 11/9/05 and it was love at 1st sight. The cars overall look and brand quality it was attracted me to it. After I went back to the dealership for a test drive and closer look is when I knew it was for me. I am over 6 ft tall and have a lot of room in the car and the seats are comfortable and are easy to adjust. The interior of the car speaks for itself (Wow Factor). It was cleverly thought out except for the parking break. Even though the engine is a 1.8 4 cylinder, the Civic moves quickly on the highways and handles great and is eassy to park. The exterior of the car is stylish and looks great. I get a lot of looks from others and I LOVE my new Honda.
