Overview & Reviews
Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
- Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

Its a Lemon - Many Parts Have Failed - 2006 Honda Civic
By JohnnyM - September 9 - 6:41 pmMany parts failed: rear wheel bearings- 28K rear shocks-38K A/C compressor- 15K now, front strut-55K horn-56K Nav system--stopped working for 1 day, came back the next (54K) visors, break-3X (told they werent made for Arizona)-15K,34K, 51K cruise control- often wont engage (told that brake pedal part fails, so "just push down hard on brake" - 39K) ft. brake calibers-defect (22K) recall-starter- fire danger-40K. Honda North America will not stand behind product -says " "...its too bad...not our problem, its yours." This is our 3rd Honda, 2nd Civic - never had any real problems until this. Car REALLY slow from start, but then ok 4-wheel disk brakes shudder and under-responsive.

First Hybrid, FUN to drive - 2006 Honda Civic
By RI N8TIV - September 3 - 2:28 pmPurchased in KC for $11,000 with 76K miles. Traded in a 2006 Mercedes E350 for this gem. I have only owned the car for one week, but I love that I am averaging over 45mpg on my 70+ mile commute to work. Snappy handling and decent highway pickup make for a fun drive. Acceleration from a stand-still will not break your neck, but it is adequate.

Fun Car - 2006 Honda Civic
By dmoney03 - September 2 - 5:52 pmThe first year I had it, I drove it over 23,000 miles. It is fun to drive, but the long trips arent the most comfortable for a 6 guy. Fuel economy is around 31 mpg on the interstate and 25 mpg around town. I keep it well maintained. That might be the reason for such mileage. It has plenty of power and response. It does seem to be a little heavy coming around the corners, but it will hold the whole way. The only complaint I have, is the rattle in the rear speaker deck from the sub and speakers. My personal opinion is, get the lip kit. It makes it look so much better and aggressive.

Very, Very Nice!!! - 2006 Honda Civic
By Stevie P - August 29 - 6:13 amJust bought this car for my son that is away @ college. He will be driving it around 200 miles each way to and from school about every 3 weeks. This car fit the bill perfectly. He loves it and so does his parents (safety, reliability, economy. Considered the Mazda3 also but the new Civic edged it out. Have added aftermarket wheels and window tint (car is silver) and it looks like an Acura. Very nice looking! Again, very impressed with this car.

By yolie - August 24 - 11:03 amI travel 80 miles a day to work and this car gets very good gas mileage of 40 to 48 mpg. I am also able to use the car pool lane which is great advantage and time saver.

Mostly positive - 2006 Honda Civic
By LKH - August 18 - 10:30 pmI love my little Civic. I was amazed how well it handled Floyd Hill, just outside Denver (6% grade). I was able to maintain a steady 65 all the way up. Its responsive, and it has the best sound system Ive ever had. The only things Im not wild about are the headrest (makes your neck bend more than I like) and the low slung front end, which screaches on the bump as I enter my drive. They should prop it up another inch, and move that headrest back about an inch. Then it would be the perfect car. But as is, its awesome.

Two Years and No Complaints! - 2006 Honda Civic
By Nicole - August 12 - 8:43 pmI have had the Civic for over two years now and I think its a great car. It gets excellent gas mileage I get 32mpg city and if I do a lot of highway I get about 38mpg, I have gotten 400 miles to a tank. It feels like a well made car and I think for the price it is an excellent car that will last a long time, Im planning on driving it into the ground. My only small complaint is it is not very good in the snow, but I would rather have that a few times a year than have to pay out the rear for a gas guzzling SUV. Its a sporty fun little car that gets alot of looks and is fun to drive!

First Honda - Cant Stop Driving - 2006 Honda Civic
By kyle - August 12 - 1:54 pmI find myself looking for reasons to drive somewhere, simply because driving this car is so fun. This is my first Honda and it has been a treat. I wish the hybrid still was able to have fold down seats in back but that is currently where the batteries are located. I have had to relearn how to drive because if I drive normally, I wont get near the high MPG I bought this car for. If I watch what Im doing, its ok. Drove a 150 mile trip, mostly freeway and got 47 MPG. In city, I get a solid 40 MPG. Car is really jerky in the 7-9 mph range. It feels like it cant decide whether to shut the engine off or not.

By Chelsea - August 12 - 11:46 amI love this car, it drives like a much more expensive car because it drives quietly and smoothly. It also feels spacious in the front.
