Overview & Reviews
Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
- Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

Awesome little car! - 2006 Honda Civic
By knightimer - November 20 - 1:13 amI did research before i went ahead and bought this car. In comparison to the others cars (TC3, Mazda3) I was looking at, the overall features, style, price and gas mileage won me over. I get nothing but compliments about the new body style. It puts a smile on my face. After owning the car for a short period of time, I knew I made the right choice!

I like it - 2006 Honda Civic
By Airwolf - November 18 - 1:23 pmIts a great car. Fun to drive and saves me some gas money. I love the new futuristic design. It moves surprisingly quick for such a small engine too. The insurance was even less than my last car which was 10 years old.

Honda Man Forever - 2006 Honda Civic
By Peterson755 - November 12 - 10:16 pmOnly problem we have had with our Civic is uneven rear tire wear. After taking it into the local Honda dealership they were able to determine that there was a problem with the rear suspension that caused the tire wear. They replaced all of my tires (over $600) under warranty and stopped the problem. Later, they were able to correct the suspension problem with a replacement part and we have had no further problems. We average in the low to mid 30s on daily mpg and have gotten as high as 44 mpg on the highway. Fantastic car. We have driven Hondas since 1987 and have never had our vehicles in the shop for anything other then scheduled maintenance.

Honda scores again! - 2006 Honda Civic
By marktbeauchamp - November 8 - 6:06 amI never thought I would own a Honda Civic because Ive always had bigger vehicles. My last car was a 2002 Ford Explorer. But, the test drive absolutely sold me! It feels bigger than I imagined on the inside with plenty of room (Im 62" and 230 pounds). The newly designed dash almost feels like some kind of futuristic spacecraft with the navi pod. The seats are very comfortable. I have to frequently drive for hours at a time and the fatigue factor is nonexistent! I can go 5 hours without stopping and feel no pain! The navi system is awesome...no more Yahoo or Mapquest for me! My first tank of gas netted me an incredible 39 miles to the gallon (mostly highway). My lowest city milage, 31mpg!

Ridiculously good experience - 2006 Honda Civic
By andrew r - November 6 - 7:10 pm105,000 miles, heres my list of issues... oh yeah, ZERO brake pads @ 82k, tires @ 85k (but I definitely overdid it there), oil changes/tire rotations@ 5,000 filters/blades as needed... thats it. Car was worth every penny of MSRP, getting a discount was only icing on the cake.

Honda equals No Support - 2006 Honda Civic
By Fed Up with Honda - November 2 - 3:40 pmTires wearing out at 13,000 miles. Went to Grand Forks, ND dealership and told should have rotated tires at 8,000. They couldnt do it because it was Saturday and understaffed. In 2009 and 3 sets of tires later, I find Honda service bulletin 08-001 describing rear suspension control arms defective and causing rapid tire wear. Went to Bemidji, MN Honda dealer who put in required replacement kit. The dealer charged me $384 which I appealed. They contacted Honda and a month later my request for a no charge was denied as I was out of warranty. The car was in warranty when the bulletin was issued but Honda does not send bulletins to owners. Fend for yourselves Honda owners!

Not Disappointed - 2006 Honda Civic
By chuck beddows - October 23 - 4:30 pmWe have owned at least 14 new Hondas since 1978 and have been happy with them all. Previous to this Civic I owned an Accord EX. The Civic drives as well as the Accord. We still own an 2005 Odyssey EX and love it.

Honda DOES NOT Stand behind their Vehicles - 2006 Honda Civic
By Hate Hondas - October 15 - 7:26 pmWe purchased this vehicle brand new. At 14,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 30,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 64,000 miles the car needs new tires. We have been told the factory installed high performance kit does not have enough adjustment to properly align the car. The specialist told us that. Chezik- Bell in Iowa City, Iowa and American Honda will not even look at it, or listen to the "owners" of the car. Poor service - Poor management. Never have we had such problems with any other car than a HONDA. Will NEVER purchase another one. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite Happy - 2006 Honda Civic
By Reeb - October 12 - 2:56 pmI just bought this car slightly used. I went from a 99 Civic Hatchback and proceeded through a difficult decision process and chose this coupe. Factors and thoughts: I am 33 and live in LA. I think the FIT is the perfect car, but test drove one and considered it strangely a step DOWN from my 99 Civic. Horrible crisis. Also considered: Mazda 3 hatch (family car), Mini Cooper (too hip, limited, expensive and faulty), Scions (too young for me), VW Rabbit (just boring), Prius (boring and expensive). I think that I made the best choice of the available cars. Comments: fun to drive, handling tight, build quality is great, the seats are VERY comfortable, acceleration is astoundingly smooth.
