This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has added a new trim level for 2002, the SE. The Accord SE is based on the LX four-cylinder coupe or sedan trim level with an automatic transmission. Features setting the SE apart from LX models include an upgraded audio system, a driver seat power height adjustment, interior wood grain trim, antilock brakes, remote keyless entry and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, bland personality, stiff highway ride.

  • I am a very satisfied Honda owner - 2002 Honda Accord

It was my dream to by a reliable car, although I never thought I could afford a Honda. Well, I had the opportunity to buy my Honda four years ago when it had 25000 miles on it. Now it has 75000 miles on it, and I still have not had any problems. It runs like a top. My goal is to reach 300,000 miles, and it seems very likely that that will happen. I have been very careful to maintain it. Although some Accords have had transmission problems, I hope with mine it will never happen. It seems that with Hondas, usually if they are maintained, they will run for a long time.

I OWN A 1998 AND LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT I CANNOT THINK OF ANY MAKE 2002 TO BUY THAT IS BETTER.THE VALUE,RESALE VALUE,QUALITY,RIDE,ERGONOMICS, GAS MILEAGE,HANDLING,COMFORT ARE SIMPLY PERFECT.IF YOU BUY THIS CAR YOU WILL LOVE IT AND NEVER BUY DOMESTIC AGAIN GUARANTEED!THIS CAR CAN GIVE ANY CAR IN ANY CLASS A MAJOR RUN FOR THE MONEY.THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ACCORD AND AMERICAN PRODUCTS IS NIGHT AND DAY.THE FEW DOLLARS PAID UP FRONT EQUATES TO LESS HEADACHES AND LESS OVERALL COST IN THE LONG RUN.

  • 4th HONDA EX - 2002 Honda Accord

I just wanted to express my happiness of yet another honda purchase. I traded in the 1999 LX and got the EX this time. I think the new styles look like a toyota and the fact I got the 1250 rebate as well as 4.75% for 60 months. I have no regrets, I got the green this time, last time I had the huntermist. Go snatch your honda before its too late!

Great car, has an amazingly smooth and quiet ride but still has alot of power and ok acceleration. The best interior design of its class. Great audio system. Fun to drive. Classy looks.

  • VERY safe car - 2002 Honda Accord

We were involved in a serious car accident a month ago. We were stopped in traffic on the hwy and a lady hit us in the rear without slowing down at over 70mph. We all walked away. Thank you Honda! No prior problems with the car, it was fantastic to drive. QUALITY all around. It was only a 4 cyl but because of the V-Tec engine it had the power PLUS the gas mileage. BUY HONDA!

I drove this car off the showroom floor in April 2002, and it has been completely trouble free. Did the major service at 105K miles. Prior to spending the $1K I thought about getting a new car, but recognized that it would probably service my needs for another seven years at substantially less of a cost than a new car (with higher insurance rates, registration rates, sales tax, etc.). True, it lacks the excitement and this model is a common sight on the road. But that helps explain its magic. A wise choice for any consumer truly concerned about the total cost of ownership.

This is my second Honda, first one was a 1990 automatic and gave it to my friend with 235,000 (original trans). Should have kept it. But the 02 Accord, my first trans went out at 88k, second 130k, and were getting ready for #3. Will trade before #3 comes. Has 145k. Its a shame, other than routine maintenance (other than a crankshaft seal fix which was no big deal) everything else was OK. SRS light stays on because of fault drivers side seat belt sensor. They are warrantied for life but need a $100 diagnostic fee first. Honda did replace my first trans for nothing, 2nd one I paid $600 total. I know about cars and do change the tranny fluid. I knew I should have got the 5 speed.

  • So far so good - 2002 Honda Accord

Im reaching my 100 miles odometer and everything seems pretty cool. Im learning how to use the "D3" and "D4" automatic gear , so at freeway always use D4 and once I get out of it I change to D3... Is that how its used ? The only thing Im going to buy pretty soon is a steering wheel cover to make it a little bit thicker. Is the "granitize process" recommended ? P.S. I just hope Honda keeps this body style a couple of more years so that It keeps its value. (Civics have a new body style) What alarm system do you recommend for this car in the aftermarket ?

  • Less reliable than a Yugo - 2002 Honda Accord
    By -

I must admit that I listened to the hype and bought this car purely because it was a "honda". Two weeks after purchasing this car the engine started making a wheezing knocking sound shortly followed by a loud BANG! Well the loud bang turned out to be a piston ripping thru the engine block. I ended up getting a new engine, a new transmission, and a new stereo (the old one flamed out second time I used it) all this with less than 3000 miles on it. Maybe I just got stuck with a lemon, but one things for sure, Ill never buy a honda anything ever again!!
