Overview & Reviews
New packages this year include a Work Truck Group with argent bumpers and a vinyl bench seat, and a King Ranch Group with exclusive interior and exterior trim. A 4.2-liter V6 has been added as the base engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission.
- Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
- Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

Far too many electrical problems - 2005 Ford F-150
By Bruce Morgan - March 17 - 11:28 pmThe truck has had far too many electrical problems. In 145000 miles it has had three alternators, two batteries, seven light bulbs and five sensors replaced. All after the 36,000 mile warranty. Now it is having ABS problems that I have estimates of from $300 to $2,500 to repair. Front brakes are very expensive to replace, as are most other items dealing with suspension, that should not be. Front bearing are over $200 and cannot be repacked, they need to be replaced. Overall, very happy with the ride, handling and comfort, but the electrical issues are really a problem. Never know if I will really get where I am going or not.

Fun, Sturdy, Safe truck - 2005 Ford F-150
By Michelle - March 10 - 4:40 pmI got my F150 in December and last month I got into a bad accident where my truck was totalled. The truck flipped onto its side and skidded down the road for a bit, but i was not injured at all. I walked away from the accident with one little scratch. Even though my F150 flipped, I got another one because i feel very safe in my truck. If i had not been in my F150 who knows what would have happened. I probably would not have walked away. Thank you Ford for building such a sturdy and safe truck that is fun to drive and enjoyable to look at!

Just Another Truck - 2005 Ford F-150
By Dennis - March 4 - 7:13 amThis is my fourth F-150. Compared to my others, this vehicle has light doors, tailgate, and hood. The ride is rough with the 20" tires.

Still neutral on performance. - 2005 Ford F-150
By RMiller - February 26 - 2:10 pmHandles well, comfortable interior, great looks. Deep beds are a plus. Fairly loud when driving around town; also a bit sluggish, especially when pulling a trailer. The rear-end sounds odd when cruising at higher speeds.

Great truck - 2005 Ford F-150
By jeffk123 - February 11 - 7:03 pmGreat for towing a twenty eight foot camper. Very agile for such a large vehicle. The triton 5.4 v8 is a great engine.

Great Truck - 2005 Ford F-150
By Jose Angel - February 5 - 1:55 pmLots of room, beautiful interior 2-tone design with faux-wood panel and brushed aluminum accents, chrome stick shift for the automatic tranny. Its just a fun machine. I have a DVD system and a huge back seat for all the kids to watch movies or just zone out, and with the wireless earphones I dont have to listen to their movies. I can plug my Ipod to the DVD accessory panel, and listen thru the radio. The sound system includes a subwoofer. And when I drive, I be truckin through traffic near the top of the food chain! The 4WD is great for snowy weather.

Ford 150 - 2005 Ford F-150
By CHAR - February 1 - 3:16 pmI love my truck, not good with power, do not like the price I paid for a pick up with no carpet and cover on seats. I had to upgrade to power windows/doors...they did pay that. But my sticker said $33,000 - far from what I see it should be. I did get it for $28,000 but looks like I paid way too much....again! But I do love it!

A former loyal Ford Customer - 2005 Ford F-150
By Ray Lane - January 25 - 9:59 amHave had a lot of problems with the drive train on this vehicle. Rear end problems started at around 13,000 miles. Had 2 rear end rebuilds on this truck. Engine problems began around 60,000 miles. Had cam problems. Cam eventually broke at 85,000 miles. Apparently a problem with this model Ford. Ford has not offerd to help repair.

Looks are deceiving - 2005 Ford F-150
By Mike R - January 21 - 5:43 amBest looking truck on the road. Probably the worst truck to tow with Ive ever owned. Very dissappointed. I can tell when I have a dirt bike in the bed while driving. Forget pulling a boat or trailer, its horrible.

great truck - 2005 Ford F-150
By bud - January 16 - 3:30 pmNice truck but I needed a new engine at 3,000 miles and Ford wanted me to pay for a rental. Constant clunking from the tranny. Oh and good luck changing the spark plugs as they snap off in the head.
