New packages this year include a Work Truck Group with argent bumpers and a vinyl bench seat, and a King Ranch Group with exclusive interior and exterior trim. A 4.2-liter V6 has been added as the base engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

This is a worthless truck. They saw this sucker coming a mile away. I bought this truck 5 months ago and have had it in the shop multiple times for issues. Now the is down and they want $500 to see why it went bad or they want $7000 to replace the engine. I wish I had been able to see these reviews prior to buying the truck or I would have bought a junker, they last longer. Long Mcarthur Ford is not concerned they sold me a lemon they knew they did, I was just the unfortunate sucker who got it. Now I have my very first nice newer vehicle I have ever bought as an $11,000 lawn ornament. I guess back to the bargain basement for me.

I have the short bed version of this package. First off the truck does its job as long as you dont abuse it. The clicking noise that is often heard is the cam phaser. It is a $2700.00 dollar repair and it will not stop the clicking noise (as admitted by Ford) the noise may stop for up to two weeks but will continue indefinitely after that. The only way to get it to stop is to purchase what is called the "Cam Phaser Lockout Kit" which is $700.00. I have put 80K miles on the truck and it has clicked since day one. have not had an issue with it truck runs good. Only other problems were the tensioner and the fuel pump module. which is a recall item no discount from ford $69.00 bad engineering.

We bought our truck it 2005. Its an 05 with every problem Ford ever had that year. We have replace 4 window regulators in the drivers side. All ford branded. Cam Phasers, Cam, fuel injector problems, now a whole new motor because the fuel injector blue and flooded cylinder #4 that we have always had problems with. i hate this truck and the money it has cost me.

I have owned this pickup for 5 years now and there always seems to be something wrong with it. The air conditioner will not cool in stop and go traffic- only at highway speeds. Ford says there is no problem. The ashtray quit closing, now the CD player in the radio quit working and will not even eject the CDs that are in the machine. Injectors have had to be replaced at less than 70,000. It came with the worst tires I have ever owned and at 70,000 has almost worn out the second set (of high quality, 60,000 mile tires) even with rotation and alignment (which the dealer cant do due to the 20 inch factory rims). This is my fourth Ford PU and the build quality has definitely gone downhill.

  • WORST F-150 - 2005 Ford F-150

I purchased this vehicle new 6 months ago and it has been in the shop 6 times so far. The dealer says they cannot fix the vibration in the rear end after 4 attempts. There have been several different problems. Some parts were not even installed (a/c hose - water was going in floorboard). I can not even get a loaner vehicle while it is being repaired but 2 times. It has currently been at the dealership about 36 days and counting. Im waiting on a buy-back or replacement. I also have a claim with the BBB AutoLine.

  • What happened to Ford? - 2005 Ford F-150

Where do I begin. I brought my truck brand new and I take very good care of it. At 3000 miles, starter goes out and I have to have it towed from work. Next, black emblem paint chips off and steering column begins to rattle. Next, computer chip goes out and I have to have it towed again. Transmission begins slipping and rust is starting to form underneath all doors from bad welding. Air Conditioner leaking inside cab now on passenger side. Transmission is still slipping and now I have a clunk in the rear end when I come to a stop and start to go. I am not at 34700 miles and the warranty is getting ready to expire. Give me a Dodge now!

DVD/CD player is much to be desired, cannot hookup iPod or Palm, DVD does not support dual play. Blind spots like crazy, mirrors not heated, engine sits too far back in chassis, thermostat does not work correctly, how can it be 66 all the time? Dealer does not have a clue, typically Ford Junk Found On Road Dead.

  • Buyer Beware! - 2005 Ford F-150

This truck has so many issues I dont know where to start. So rather than try to sum up my experience, I will advise anyone who wants to purchase a Ford go out and do some research first. I have replaced the front differential and axle assembly, drive shaft, ring and pinion gear assembly and now the clutches in the rear posi rear end. All under warranty at dealer and all common problems with this vehicle. I drive it like a car! Haul nothing pull nothing! BUYER BEWARE! GOING BACK TO TOYOTA.

  • full of vibrations - 2005 Ford F-150

Truck is all right if you dont mind driveline vibrations that Ford cant fix, oil leaks and rattles which could be caused by the vibrations.

  • Blown Rear after 1100 miles = F150 - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

The tilt steering wheel lever broke off after 400 miles. The rear end went, needed a clutch pack replacement after only 1,100 miles. I asked that the dealer where I purchased the truck clearly document the issues and resolutions in case I needed to pursue Lemon Laws. They then refused to work on the truck. Ford Motor company no help. I took the truck to another dealer to get it fixed (still lots of shudder / grinding / slipping) then traded it in on a Dodge. This truck cost me a lot of money. I only owned it for ten days.
