The truck is great and comfortable on the highway, and the ride is so smooth, its like riding in a luxury car. The only gripe I have is the gas mileage, but I guess its because I have the large v-8 motor. I have 36000 miles on it and the mileage is about 17 highway. Although thats not good gas mileage but a lot better than the Dodge of the same size.

  • Ford, is it the best in Texas? - 2005 Ford F-150

I believe Ford has come a long way in the re-engineering department. I love the quiet ride. I own a 2002 Ford Explorer also, and the new F150 is a much quieter ride. I do believe they all need running bars for short people. This should be standard on all of the Ford pickups. As always there is still room for improvement.

I love having a truck that is so luxurious; it turns heads whereever I go. The interior and exterior design are flawless.

  • Love Truck - Hate The Headliner - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

When I purchased this vehicle, I was in awe. After a while the truck began to develop a few rattles but not many as my cars in the past. The most major problem I have encountered with this vehicle was the floppy headliner. I have had to install my own version of a packing foam in the headliner to eliminate the problem. I have currently experienced a problem in cold weather with the headliner tapping sounding as if the rear window is rattling but I have yet to experience any relief. All in all this vehicle was great on long trips. However the retention value is terrible!.

  • good truck - 2005 Ford F-150

Had problems with steering vibration right after I bought it. Turned out balancing the tires did the trick, though first time in all the vehicles Ive bought Ive had to have this done right out of the gate. Ride and handling are great, 5.4 is a little sluggish but acceptable. Love the interior and like the deep bed as it gives more inside space with a tonneau cover. Fuel mileage is ok, compares with the 1/2 ton Chevy I had. Love the looks of the truck, again great ride and handling.

My driving consists mostly of city driving. Even though this is a pick-up truck, I have found that I can use this vehicle for everyday, get around type of driving. There is enough room in the cab to take the kids to school, go shopping, or pack luggage for vacation. Plus, when I need to, I can load up the "bed" for anything else. It rides great, the seats are awesome, and the fit and finish are excellent. Maintenance has been minimal. Although I had to have the rotors turned to remove brake "shimmy". Outside of that, its been scheduled maintenance.

  • Looks Awesome Breaks Often - 2005 Ford F-150

Interior/exterior awesome styling. Hand grabs great. Large mirrors allow you to change lanes easy. Head rests you can actually use. Upgraded stereo sound great. Seatbelt position on seat works outstanding. The flareside styling is awesome. Tires seem to be wearing very fast. There is a drivetrain rattle that is still not found. The 4 wheel drive system has gone out twice now. Modules the first time, now the the motor that engages the system is broken. The transmission slips a little. Only 19000 miles on truck.

  • First truck, and loving it! - 2005 Ford F-150

I purchased this truck because I love trucks, and more specifically, Ford trucks. However it is my first one. I have not been disappointed for the most part. Reliability has been great, and I get complements everywhere I go. A manual transmission was one of my top priorities, so I opted for the small, V6 engine. As can be expected, it is no rocket, however, with the manual tranny, it feels pretty torquey off the line. I have regularly hauled full bedloads of stuff, with not problem, and on several occasions towed a bass boat. It takes everything in stride with no problems. On long trips, even with a full bed and AC going full blast, I have received as high as 21.5 mpg on the highway!

  • My best truck yet - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Ive been driving trucks for some decades and this is the best so far. Before this truck I had a GMC Sierra SLT. The Ford is as comfortable but much quieter. The suspension hauls loads easier than the GMC did and tows very easy but at a minor price of needing ballast when empty. The are two negatives so far. 1. Gas mileage with the 5.4 Triton is low but then you cant haul feed with a Prius. 2. The front brakes leave loads of dust on the wheels. Like my other Fords in the past, I need two 40 pound sandbags in the rear when empty so the rear end doesnt hop around on bumpy roads. I am not a rah rah Ford person but this is a very good truck so hats off to Ford.
