This Year's Model Updates:

Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

  • 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS driving fun - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

The 2002 Chevrolet Impala LS is a great car to drive, it feels like a much more expensive car, it rides good, comfortable seating, it handles really well with a good feel of the road and has just about all the features you would find in a car costing way more. Although the interior is laid out well, easy to read gauges and easy to reach controls, the enterior could be alittle more plush, the rear seating area and front and rear door panels are rather bland.

  • Excellent family car - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I believe that this car is the best model out there. We have an infant and this car has everything we could want out of a family car. Security, room, and style. We would give this car an overall rating of 10 out of 10.

  • Happy with my Impala - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I bought my Impala about six months ago with 22000 on it. I have loved the car ever since with decent power and gas mileage for its size. I also like the trunk space. Only real complaint is I had to mount my XM radio obove the mirror as there arent really any flat spots on the dash.

Very poor front brakes, they go out of round every 20,000 miles. Need better quality material in the brakes, same problem on my 2000 Malibu.

  • Everyting I Needed - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I needed a larger four-door car. I wanted performance and creature comfort. I got both with this car. A loaded LS has about as much as anyone could want. The moonroof is great and the heated seats and steering wheel mounted audio controls are very luxurious. It handles reasonably well but not like a small car. Quite quiet inside with windows up. The controls are well placed and the trunk is huge. The 3.8L engine delivers enough power to really go but gets great mileage (I average about 23 MPG around town, 29 highway).

  • Very Sastified - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I work at the dealership from which car was purchased. I sell Caddy, Buick, Chevy, Pontiac and GMC. The overall value of the Impala just cant be beat in the large car segment. Fuel economy, roominess, reliability, comfort and a five star front crash rating all, by todays standards, at a very reasonable cost. Suggestion: Do upgrade to power seat. The Impala is the car I bought.

The car is great to drive, very responsive and with very good acceleration. Have had issues with the brake rotors and transmission that both had to be replaced under warrenty. Rotors at 15000 miles transmission at 37000. Would recommend extended warrenty.

  • Exxxxcellent! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Our 02 LS has been a great car for us. We especially enjoy driving it on our frequent weekend road trips ... it is comfortable, economical and the 3800 V6 offers more than adequate power for the highway. The best upgrade weve made was the addition of XM Satellite Radio ... really helps make long drives more enjoyable. Our sleek black Impala looks sharp, too, with its LS Sport Appearance Package. It still draws admiring comments from friends and acquaintances. The luxury touches -- heated leather seats in front, the self-dimming rearview mirror and the compass, to name a few -- are much appreciated. Our Impala just turned 25,000 miles and has been quite reliable.

This car was great for the 52000 miles I put on it in a little under 3 years. Upgraded to an LS (at aboout 7K off the sticker). Unbleviable amount of car for 22K

  • Pros and Pros - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

This is a fun car to drive. I rented one in CA and because of that I wound up buying one. Even fully loaded the car handles well and responds well. Both my wife and myself feel that a lot of thought went into the design and placement of interior features. Things are just convenient to the driver. We are very happy with our new car.
