This Year's Model Updates:

Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

  • Very Generic Feeling - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

In short, this car just came off feeling like a very generic economy sedan. The HP and Torque numbers look good on paper, but on the road the 3.4L engine was quite anemic. The steering had a huge dead spot in the middle on straightaways at highway speeds; keeping it on-center took a lot of work. Also, the sound system has really poor separation and muddy bass. I know some might disagree with this, but even with less HP (and for about $2,100 less in price), I really prefer the Dodge Stratus for styling, comfort and handling.

  • Take a Closer Look at Impala! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

My first thought of the Impala in 2000 was Dull. I test drove one a year ago, and changed my mind. My second look at the styling. Differant! Then came the fuel economy. Wow 30mpg. highway, and 20mpg around town! Then I took a ride. Powerful 200hp V-6. Tight handling, and quiet cabin! And all the creatures of a much more expensive car. I had a chance to ride in the back seat this week, a 30 minute ride.I was very impressed. I have had Town Cars, Crown Vics, and Grand Marquiss. Just as nice a ride, and just as much room, and the rear theater seating was nice. I am 61" plenty of leg room. Over 18 Cubic feet of trunk space, (I cant reach the back seat)

  • Impala LS for 57" and over - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

I have owned this car for four days. Drove 220 miles and my right knee and leg hurted all night. This car is not designed for people 57" and over. The driver seat does not go back far enough. You have to turn totally around to open the console. The console is too far back. Although the car is a sports car of like, it rides kind of rough and wobbly. The driver will continuously bump their knee and scoff the bottom of the drivers door when getting out the car. Y

I guess I would have to say that I love this car. The Impala rides like a dream (although the suspension is a bit on the soft side - more luxury than sport which is ok by me), and its QUIET! (inside AND out). Its nice to be able to roll up the windows and not hear the traffic! I have the seat-package upgrade which includes the interior trim mod and the grip handles... Much more comfortable than the standard seats. I had five adults in the car and all were comfortable. Performance is good with the standard 3.4L engine though I wish I had opted for the 3.8L. Still, I dont have any trouble getting in and out of traffic. My overall rating is VERY GOOD!

I am driving my second Impala. they are lease cars, and I use it in my work. The firsd one had 75000 miles on it,and this one has 18000.I took delivery in Janurary.I had no trouble with either of the cars. They have performed with out any serious breakdowns. If I could upgrade,I would get the LS for the extra power. My only complaint is it took a few weeks for the power seat to get comfortable.

  • comfort and power under $30000 - 2002 Chevrolet Impala

My Impala has lots of get-up and rides very comfortably. My husband is a bigger man so is not comfortable in many cars during our long road trips. The Impala is extremely spacious and has 2 thermostats (one for each of us) so there are few arguements over the temperature. This is a great, reliable car especially for its class.

This is an all-around competent, comforatble and fun to drive vehicle. I love the sporty, conserative look and feel of this car. Power everything, spacious interior and torquey engine is a thrill. Huge on inside, mid-size on outside makes city or highway travel fun and comfortable in all american style!

I loved my toyota but I am in love with mt Impala LS. It handles like a dream, you dont feel it moving. It is quiet, corners beautiful and is just plain fun to drive. This is what I call my "Oh my God" car because that is what I said when I saw it and drove it.

I have to admit I bought this Impala sedan 7 months ago. Ive enjoyed it so much I bought an Impala LS fully loaded in March 2002. When I take a look at all Impala has to offer for the price, I just dont see how you can go wrong.
