Overview & Reviews
Now into its third year of production, the Impala soldiers on as Chevrolet's bread-and-butter family sedan. Minor upgrades this year include standard dual-zone air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo and LATCH child seat tether anchors. A leather-accented 60/40 split bench seat will be available later this year on LS models, and two new exterior colors have been added.
- Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
- So-so styling, wallowy suspension,low-buck interior.

Competent But Bouncy - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Albie12 - February 28 - 10:00 amThis is a solid car in every respect, with the exception of its ride. Although comfortable and responsive on a short ride, the bumps and bounces take their toll over the long haul. Ive found that I must be very mindful upon entering driveways, as the vehicle tends to frequently bottom out. For its engine size, the car garnishes commendable fuel economy (30 mpg)on the highway. The vehicle handles very well and the brakes are true and responsive. One feels safe inside of the vehicle and the seats feel nice. Theres also plenty of seating room for three six-foot adults in the back. The trunk is cavernous and my family loves the safety features.

An update! - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By bigrig - December 23 - 2:00 amAfter another year and a half, I thought an update in order. Only problem has been brake rotors due to heavy road salt but completely covered by warrantee! You could not pry this car away from my wife! I still cant get over the gas mileage (3.4 engine)of 28 to 35 mpg and the great power in everyday driving! Drove it on a 200 mile trip yesterday and had to do some serious passing on icy roads. It handles great! Be sure to get antilock brakes and the power split bench seats! A great car all around! I would buy the base model again with upgrades--who elsehas a power split bench seat with this kind of mileage??

Edmunds Unfair to Impalas - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Paul Black - December 5 - 10:00 amEdmunds reviewers must have been on loco weed when they said Impala was "dreadful". We looked at everything from Audi to Volvo and settled on an Impala LS. The LS has a snappy engine, full independant suspension, and rides great. It corners like an Aston and has zero understeer. Itll beat anything but a "muscle car" in a dead heat off the line. Fully loaded, its the buy of a lifetime.

I Like the LS - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Tony The Tiger - November 22 - 2:00 amI took a look at the car when a friend of mine showed me hers. The LS was top of the line in 2002. For a family man who wants a comfortable car with a sporty fair, this car is ideal.

This is the car for you - 2002 Chevrolet Impala
By Sullivanmark1 - October 24 - 10:00 amThe car has an electronic information center that tells your average speed, mileage, average mileage per gal. I average 32 miles in town and 35 on the freeway. I have checked it the old method and the electronic mileage unit is accurate - WOW... (I have the 3.4l engine on a sedan).
