Overview & Reviews
The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.
- Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
- Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

Try and top it! - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Randall - January 27 - 9:01 pmI purchased this Z71 4WD Avalanche new and have enjoyed excellent reliability. It has always run flawlessly. I usually trade every couple of years due to boredom or a more desirable rig, but I havent been able to find anything that compares to the ride, performance, and awesome design. People are amazed at how much room it has with the bed fully extended. More than a long bed pickup! I highly recommend the Avalanche to anyone looking for a great all around truck.

2004 Z71 - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By John Hopper - December 29 - 7:20 amIve owned this vehicle for just over three years. Had to replace front shocks, fuel pumps, brakes all around. Have the "clunking" from the steering shafts, trouble with rear tailgate latches, poor fuel economy. But I love this truck, might not buy another one, but I still really like it.

wouldnt trade my avalanche - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By liketheavalanche - December 29 - 2:00 amThis has to be the best truck I have ever owned before. I was so excited to bring it home from the dealer and my wife fell in love with it at first drive. Very unusual body design, not your typical cookie cutter type truck.

Avafun - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By packoo - November 11 - 10:00 amStrong engine that gets thirsty with the AC on... Great for those who like Suburban type vechicle and needs the occasional pick up truck features... Body hardware useful in parking lots, plastic does well vs doors and carts slamming into it. All windows down with midgate up gives an airy feel without getting blown away on highway.

I LOVE IT!! - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By KEVIN A . TAYLOR - September 30 - 10:00 amIVE HAD MY AVALANCH FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW. GAS MILAGE ISNT GREAT BUT FEASABLE. I AVERAGE ABOUT 350 MILES A TANK. ABOUT $47 TO FILL UP FROM EMPTY AT ABOUT $1.79 A GALLON. REGULAR UNLEADED SEEMS TO PERFORM BEST IN THE ENGINE. POWER IS GOOD ALTHOUGH THROTTLE RESPONSE COULD STAND TO BE A TAD BETTER. SOME OF THE INTERIOR IS SOMEWHAT CHEAP BUILD BUT MANAGEABLE.

THIS IS IT -- NO REGRETS - BUY ONE - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Ved A Vanlin - August 22 - 2:00 amQuiet, responsive, safe. Good riding in comfort. We avoided a headon collision involving a careless construction worker who was leaving work early. He thought all lanes were one way travel. He was wrong, heading straight into our Avalanche. Our snap extremely quick and harsh turn resulted in the Avalance and workers car stopped, side by side, almost touching. (No sign of the Avalanche tipping over.) RESPONSIVE AVALANCHE. SAFE AVALANCHE.
