Overview & Reviews
The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.
- Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.

love it love it love it - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Robert H - July 4 - 2:00 amthis truck has won MVP during our recent move. the versatility is great. just like the review says, amenities and feel of a suburban with the utility of the silverado. i can haul family around or lumber. the amenities are great, comes with dual- zone climate control, GREAT bose stereo with in-dash 6 disc changer. (stereo includes subwoofer). i dont know what people are talking about "cheap interior feel"... it feels luxurious to me. a hefty curb weight makes for sluggish performance though, and gas mileage is abysmal. the onboard computer is more amazing than in my previous BMW.

I love my truck - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Janie Biddix - April 3 - 2:00 amThe best vehicle I have owned thus far. The versibility is wonderful. It is a car and truck mixed into one vehicle. I can take my grandkids for a ride and haul pretty much what I want as well. The handling of the truck is great--in rain or snow I have the capability of maneuvering the vehicle to my satisfaction. Gas mileage is okay, but of course we all want better efficiency. We have to sacrifice something for the luxury we want. The quietness of the vehicle is another plus.

Most Versatile Suv Yet - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Covinaraider - April 3 - 2:00 amIve had this vehicle almost a year now and have been nothing but happy! The comfort, power, and versatility give it a package that my friends envy. It drives smoother than a tahoe, and has done everything that I have needed it to do. Yeah of course I wish it got better gas mileage (16 mpg overall), but which SUV/Truck owner doesnt.

Problems - 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
By Richard - March 6 - 4:15 amIve had intermediate steering shaft problems, replaced both Idler arms , water pump , blower modular, stereo, and now my transmission is burnt out Im real disappointed. What happened to reliability and pride in workmanship. I paid cash for a truck loaded with problems. Dont buy this truck! After 3K miles the first truck was replaced because the steering problems could not be corrected. All the problem above are on the second truck. Ive had it with this truck.
