This Year's Model Updates:

The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

This is my 2nd Avalanche. Having owned a 2002 I was extremely pleased with the design and especially the smooth ride.

I have owned 8 bmws 4 mercedes 1 porsche, and about 8 others in my 26 years of driving. My Avalanche is the best multi-task car/truck I have owned. Comfort looks and room are the highs, power, gas and transmision are the low points. My last car was a BMW 4.6; The other ones I have now is 04 SL500, Audi Allroad.

We drove 1200 miles then returned 1200 miles a week later. The ride was wonderful for 2 adults and 1 dog whom got both back seats.

Ive owned a Jeep Cherokee, Isuzu Trooper, and Toyota 4Runner and the Avalanche is by far the roomiest SUV Ive owned. Its also the most powerful. While the model I bought doesnt have all the amenities of past vehicles, it does have everything I want. It drives smoothly and quietly. The Bose stereo with XM it decent and Im still experimenting with the Midgate conversion options. The only downside - filling up with gas...
