Toyota reneges on Frame Recall - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By mmcd1 - July 28 - 6:44 amToyota Canada has denied any payout as the 15 yr program has ended. I had the truck in for the recall in April 2010 and now the truck is dangerous to drive and unsalable. Also my youngest daughter had been driving the truck to Toronto for school, which has obviously put her some peril with a faulty frame. I spoke with a Customer service rep named Steven ID# 5001, who told me that it has been decided and there is nothing that anyone can do. He would not give me a name or number of anyone above him to speak with regarding the decision. This is one of many Toyotax that I have owned and I am more than disappointed, I plan to sue!!

Making it fun - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By 4HIM - April 25 - 1:50 pmHave enjoyed owning this vehicle so much and Toyotas reputation for quality and reliabilty are well-founded. The pickup rides almost as good as any comfortable car but will go places an auto and most trucks cant think about.

just breaking in - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By Kappelmeier - December 7 - 2:00 amMy Tacoma 4x4 has 110,000 miles and it is just getting started. It will probably run forever. It is tough and durable, and extremely reliable. I have had no problems in 6 years. I highly recommend this vehicle to everyone looking for a compact pickup.

My little truck - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By timmybird - September 1 - 2:26 amI bought my 96 from my father in law with 96000. He drove long distances to work every day and racked up the miles. It was factory serviced all the way up to the point I bought it in 2000. I have never owned a toy but always wanted one. It was a dream come true for me. This truck ran like a brand new car for a long time. I still own the truck and have replaced the rotors twice, pads, and a plate inside the starter. That is it maybe 300 dollars in maintenance. It has never left me hanging stuck some where looking for a tow truck. It now has 203,000 and still going strong, not bad.

Truck for Life - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By Probe8 - May 3 - 10:00 amI have driven this pickup since brand new and never have any problem with my 6 years of experience. Reliability was excellent through the years I owned it. On or Off the road, this will be the truck of my choice. Never thought of selling or trading it on my future years. Owning this vehicle for good cause is highly recommended.

Most Reliable Vehicle Ive Ever Owned - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By BB - February 27 - 7:43 amIt has been a superb vehicle. Only things replaced: sensor inside catalytic converter; solenoid in starter; & manifold. Im just now getting to the point that the clutch assembly needs replaced with almost 280,000 miles on the truck. Great lumbar support for my back. Id like to change a few things inside the cab that were not well designed, but they are small issues compared to the trucks reliability and great gas mileage. Ill keep it until Im too old to drive a stick shift!

yota goes far - 1996 Toyota Tacoma
By shris - January 11 - 7:06 pmI currently own a 96 tacoma and it has been the best truck Ive ever owned!! What tacoma lacks in size and power it more than make up by delivering in toughness, dependability, and most important FUN! Tacoma is such a great truck I am about to buy a 05 tacoma to satisfy my cravings for 245 hp!!! Thank you toyota, keep those tacoma improvements comming.
