Overview & Reviews
Already sporty-looking, the RAV4 compact SUV gets even sportier thanks to a new optional sport package that adds a new grille, a hood scoop, color-keyed door handles, heated exterior mirrors, tubular roof rack and gray-painted bumpers and overfenders. Inside, the package adds special sport fabric seats.
- Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
- Small displacement engine for the class, noisy, most of the desirable equipment is optional.

Some comprimise - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By L. Y. - December 22 - 10:00 amChoosing looks over power is a comprimise you have to be willing to make.

New RAV4 - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By chickenlips - November 9 - 10:00 amVery fun to drive, especially with the 5-speed manual, but under-powered. Handling is superb, as are the brakes. All-in-all, a nice vehicle. Could use a larger engine. Sterio sounds tinny. Same as Camry. Needs better speakers.

By marmet - October 16 - 10:00 amLove the RAV4. Would add some splash of interior options (leather seating for one) but wouldnt trade it!

You wont win a race in this vehicle. - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By Susy G. - September 27 - 10:00 amI traded in a 2000 sports car for the Rav 4 because my previous Toyotas (3 of them) held up very well and kept their value (the sports car was already having engine problems and depreciated almost 50%!). The car/truck handles very well (tight turns), but I found the Ravs 4 cylinder engine a bit sluggish. Not very fun to drive on the highway when youre trying to change lanes or get on. However, city driving is a bit more fun.

Great Little SUV - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By James Thomas - September 15 - 2:00 amI have owned several vehicles as well as other Toyotas and I can honestly say that the 2003 RAV4 S model is the most fun to drive. True, it is not a powerhouse, but it is not designed to be. The 4 wheel drive is flawless and I could not tell the difference between it and the 2 wheel drive model. The interior is the usual Toyota quality and the exterior is awesome.

Good second vehicle - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By rav4brian - July 8 - 2:27 amI gave my son my 03 Corolla S to us for college, so I went out car shopping and after test driving the Rav4 is was hooked, it had a very comfortable drive, I knew I was driving a Toyota, . last winter here in Missouri we had several big snowstorms and blizzards roll through the area, my AWD Rav4 didnt have any difficulty getting around in the deep snow, the corolla would have never made it out of the drive way

one mans opinion - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By Jeffber - June 21 - 2:00 amThis car is fun to drive and the looks with the sport package are better than all the other compact suvs. The seats could use lumbar support. The performance is ok for a 4 cylinder (it’s not a race car). The gas mileage is awesome. The ride and handling are great. I purchased this because I have 1 child and another on the way and the ranger extend cab wasn’t going to cut it; this suv is perfect for me. The legroom in the back is ok for kids but 4 adults riding in this car would not be comfortable.

OK, just OK - 2003 Toyota RAV4
By Russ - June 14 - 2:50 pmThis is my wifes car and she loves it except for poor mileage (17mpg in town) and the noise. Good tires would help the noise and ride. Traction is excellent. Seats are good in front and marginal in back. The swing out tailgate with attached spare tire is awkward
