Overview & Reviews
The RAV4 SUV remains largely unchanged for 2000. A new cupholder design and the extinction of the two-door RAV4 convertible are the big news for '00.
- Swift handling, comfortable front bucket seats, Toyota durability and quality.
- Pricey options, so-so acceleration, not much legroom for rear passengers.

PERFECT CAR FOR A CHICK - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By dman81 - August 22 - 2:00 amthis is my mothers car, but i tend to drive this a lot in the winter when it snows. it handles very well in the snow much to my suprise. i feel very safe with the control and traction i get from the 4 wheel drive. trunk space is excellent...i fit a lot of stuff in the back that i thought would never fit. Needs more interior leg room.I tend to be cramped up especially when theres people in the back seat (im 61"). There is also a lot of wind noise, cheap dash. I kinda feel funny driving it because its not really my style...This car is definitely a "chick car" but it get does the job done

Thanks Toyota for the fun reliable ride - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Brandon - July 10 - 10:46 pmFinally I own an SUV that does what is supposed to do - drive. I have had this RAV4 now for 2 years after purchasing it with quite a few miles already on it. I cannot tell enough how great it is to go out to my car everyday and not worry about getting where I need to go. I now travel safely and comfortably. On top of that its been the best car singing environment yet. The only thing I would change would be an automatic overdrive. I always forget it is engaged after I get off the highway. JMHO Cheers

Disappointed - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Vt - May 28 - 10:00 amI am very disappointment with the Rav 4. I wanted a SUV, but the prices were out of my range. I thought the price of this SUV was great. However, I feel that it really doesnt qualify as a SUV. Its VERY small-no cargo room at all. In addition, its a 4 cylinder so its a dog on hills. I dont need something super fast, but I dont want to have to punch the gas pedal to the floor to climb a hill. Also, the cruise wasnt smooth. Im going to trade it in for a 4Runner.

Toyota RAV4 L - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Jonni928 - November 16 - 8:46 pmAn overall wonderful small SUV. The build quality is rock solid. My experience with reliability has been excellent, I have never owned a vehicle so reliable. The engine and transmission work wonderfully, and the engine is suprisingly powerful for a 2.0 L.

Love My Rav4! - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Dagwood55 - December 5 - 4:53 amBought used with 75K miles, now at 87K. No problems. Solid, dependable, reliable, fun to drive. Looks, drives and sounds like its still brand new. Interior looks like new. No squeaks or rattles. Easy to park. Has lively acceleration, still gets 30 mpg on hwy, 24-25 around town. Considered AWD but went with FWD and automatic and this car is GREAT on snow (Firestone tires). Love it so much, we bought another!

Couldnt be Happier - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Tom & Lois - March 24 - 10:00 amWe watched Rav from day-one. In 2000, my husband surprised me for my B-day with a RAV4L (ltd edition). I love the large windows & almost no blind spots; I sit up high enough for a birdseye view without needing a ladder to get in! I love the smaller steering wheel and it turns on a dime; park it anywhere. The mileage cant be beat for highway road trips; city isnt bad either. Seats are formed & back- supporting. Everything is at your fingertips. Its a dream to drive. I love my RAV4L, can you tell? Get metallic green!

200,000 mi still going in 2013! - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By japanforever - March 6 - 3:05 amWell its auto transmission but this website didnt give me that option to choose. Purchased new in 2000 - now its 2013. Has never broken down on road, has never had muffler or any other repairs such as transmission or engine work etc. Only regular stuff that has to be changed out every so many miles. No body rust and I live in Michigan with harsh winters and high humidity! They just dont make em like they used to. And as far as Toyota making em in other countries (incl. the US) I say forget about it. Buy only 100% Japan and youll have a dependable car for over 13 years.

2000 RAV4 Needed Some Tweaking - 2000 Toyota RAV4
By Betty - October 18 - 2:00 amOverall, this is a very good suv. But, when I bought it brand new, the drivers side mirror was distorted and had to be replaced. The gas gauge never accurately revealed the full capacity or empty capacity, even after warranty repair. The cruise control shows problems of racing rpms and engages in a jerking acceleration without warning. And as others mention, it lacks good starting acceleration. And, I couldnt believe that I had to replace the emblems for rusting
