This Year's Model Updates:

Already sporty-looking, the RAV4 compact SUV gets even sportier thanks to a new optional sport package that adds a new grille, a hood scoop, color-keyed door handles, heated exterior mirrors, tubular roof rack and gray-painted bumpers and overfenders. Inside, the package adds special sport fabric seats.

Pros:
  • Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
Cons:
  • Small displacement engine for the class, noisy, most of the desirable equipment is optional.

  • Simply Perfect - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have had my RAV for over a year and 1/2, and I still love driving it. Drives very smoothly, just like a car. I had a Camery before I got my RAV 4, and to be honest, I like the RAV much better. It also makes me feel safe while driving. You wont regret buying this one! I promise!!!

  • Better than I expected - 2003 Toyota RAV4

We bought this Rav for the wife. She had some reservations about the 4 cyl. After driving it for a few months it has excceded her and my expectations. Off road its great as long as you avoid extreme situations.Ground clearance is fantastic, very little wheel spin and very agile. On the highway it really shines, it will cruise all day without breaking a sweat up hills included with close to 30 mpg.Once it gets too 3000 rpms its pretty impressive. The only real down side is the cup holders could use some improvement and it can be a real slug at stop light to stop light unless you activate the ECT.

  • Great Road Trip - 2003 Toyota RAV4

Im very impressed with the stability of this SUV. Very good handling and ride. When floored at speed there is a tendency to drop into too low a gear. All controls are easy to reach and work/feel tight. Interior design is modern/functional which I like. Will submit another review after the first winter here in Toronto. Nice 2liter Lexus 4cyl. engine. Plenty of torque.

Test drove all the competition and settled on the 2003 RAV 4 L with all the pptions. Interior is well layed out and the seating is quite comfortable. It rides like a car on the road and is very easy to drive.

  • Wow - 2003 Toyota RAV4

This is my second RAV4 my first one is still kicking from 1997. I like the extra power this has over that one. The little quirks have been worked out and the car rides wonderfully. Small engine, 5 speed, L package is the way to go...

  • An Unbiased Review - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have had my AWD RAV4 for four years and put almost 90,000 miles on it. I could not be happier. I have never written a car review before but this car deserves it. I just came back from the dealer for routine maintenance. I was told that it needed nothing. I have only put gas and oil in this car and have had no issues whatsoever. It drives new and looks (minus normal wear) excellent. Build quality is outstanding, no rattles. Everything works like it should and you can see that this car gets driven a lot. The noise problem that has been commented on improves 100% with better quality tires (comes with TOYO tires new). The AWD works excellent in real conditions (black ice, snow storms, etc).

  • Love My RAV! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I love this truck; its a great all around vehicle. I commute 50 miles round trip daily, mostly freeway and in heavy traffic, and so far am averaging 23 mpg. Visibility and acceleration are good. Do your research; test drive more than once; drive it at night; take it on the freeway; take it up a hill; make a u- turn. The RAV is a lot of fun.

  • Not too big/not too little/just right - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I had a 2001 Celica I loved but I needed more room with new granddaughter. The RAV4 is great. I had a Durango and it was too big and the RAV is roomy but not overpowering. I purchased the sport package in the graphite pearl and everyone thinks its sharp.

  • From Honda to Toyota - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have always purchased Hondas in the past. I purchased a 1981 Honda Civic Wayon in 1981. 11 years later I purchased a 1992 Honda Civic Wayon. That was the last year they were made. I was worried that I would not find a comparable car in 2003. I was wrong. The 2003 Toyota Rav4 is great. It drives easy and very smooth. I love the back door which opens from the side. I look forward to purchasing another Rav4 in 2014. Thanks Toyota. Patty

  • My Rav 4 - 2003 Toyota RAV4

My Rav 4 was the first car i ever fully bought on my own,, something that can be a very scary experience, but in the end it was all worth it. The dealership i delt with was wonderful and made things as smooth as can be. I have not had my car for a year quite yet, but have enjoyed every single aspect of it. I drive a ton for work and haul quite a bit around for my occupation and my car has made just my job that much more enjoyable. Knowing that it is a well made reliable car brings much ease of mind to my already stressed life!!!!
