Overview & Reviews
After 12 long years in production, Saturn is finally retiring its aging S-Series sedan and coupe in favor of the all-new Saturn Ion sedan and innovative quad coupe.
- Innovative rear-access doors on coupe, customer-focused dealers, numerous personalization options, great cargo capacity.
- Build quality not up to segment standards, unusual styling, lack of established service and repair history.

My sorrow - 2003 Saturn ION
By NOT WORTH IT - December 9 - 11:16 amI bought this car during my junior year of college and have had nothing but problems with since I bought it. I have had transmissions problems since one month after I bought it that have still not been fixed and the dealership has lied to me about parts that they did not fix when they said that they did ( I caught them) and I have had terrible problems with the lights and blinkers. But the worst problem of all was how easily the car was almost totaled just from hitting a deer. The car is so light that it is a terrible winter car. Never again will I buy a Saturn especially since the dealership has treated my so poorly.

My New Car - 2003 Saturn ION
By Jim231 - November 22 - 2:00 amI just got my new car on Tuesday, and I just love it. GM sent me a letter saying that I could use my GM dollars towards a Saturn, and if I used them by December 31st, they would double them. Wow, that is $ 1,600.00 off my car. Thanks GM.

Great Little Car - 2003 Saturn ION
By camille - November 6 - 3:10 pmI took it on a 6000 mile trip and averaged 33mpg. It handles extremely well on icy streets and mountain curves. I am a 3rd time Saturn buyer.

Best purchase ever! - 2003 Saturn ION
By garrettham - October 31 - 10:41 amI purchaed this car around one year ago adn it has been nothing but a charm! The 2.2 has decent pep when you need it to, and even with my very agressive driving i still average 36 mpg! With 4 Blizzaks this car controls amazing in snow! My car is the 2 with no options but a spoiler in silver. The only bad things about the car are that with the manual mirrors the passanger side one is fixed, so you cant adjust it. Also the head lights are VERY dull, but some new bulbs will do the trick. The only other thing is it used to sometimes not start in the cold, but all you need is a good mechanic to cut some wire in the ignition. Over all if youre at all interested, purchase one, theyre honestly great

Fabulous car at a great price. - 2003 Saturn ION
By zborgerd - October 28 - 2:00 amThe car is first in its class in terms of options. You cant find a Civic with ABS on the basic model. The Delta Platform is superb, as is the Ecotec 2.2. The manual is fast and the auto is peppy, especially in its "I" mode, which equates to an overdrive mode. The center IP seems seems totally natural. Cars SHOULD be made this way. Overall, the handling, accelleration, and ride wquality is better than any sedan that I have ever owned. Frankly, I feel that there is no better car for a 20-something that wants reliable transportation that looks good. And the price is just right. You can get a good ION 2 for little more than $200 per month with a small down payment.

not bad for its price - 2003 Saturn ION
By rabbit2003 - October 23 - 10:00 amIt is a nice car. But since this is a new design, it does have some defects, such as the interior parts. But I like the 2.2L engine, really powerful for such a small car. The 5speed auto tranny is a bit not smooth enough in low speed.

Fourth Saturn - 2003 Saturn ION
By RevJLS - October 16 - 10:00 amThis Ion replaced 2 SLs - one with 155000 miles. These are durable, fun cars. I look for the Ion to be equally durable. Fit and finish show an improvement over the SLs. Fun factor is high, and I love the center instrument cluster.

Love my Saturn - 2003 Saturn ION
By psugrad - October 16 - 10:00 amThis is the first car I purchased. I had been looking for several years for a new car when this came out. Knew exactly what I wanted and found everything in the ION. As always the Saturn staff were excellent. Frequently travel on long business trips and dont have any problem with being in the car for the duration.

6 Satisfied Years with the ION - 2003 Saturn ION
By mcgregwood - September 15 - 3:56 pmI must say that this car was fun to drive. It handled better than any car I drove, even my new 2009 Cobalt. I really liked having the dash in the middle, you just have to get used to it. Of course I had little problems here and there, nothing major. I shouldnt have bought a new model of car the first year it came out. I should have waited till 2004 to buy the ION after all the little kinks where worked out. Overall I was pretty satisfied with the ION. Only broke down on my once in 6 years. The car still looked great when I traded it in last week. I love the fact that Saturns dont rust. I would recommend this car to anyone, but its better to buy a 2004 or newer model.
