Overview & Reviews
Significant changes accompany the Ion into 2005. A revised front fascia on sedans, as well as various other exterior trim and wheel upgrades, spruce up the Ion's outward appearance. Inside, new front and rear seats (on level 2 and 3 models) provide substantial comfort improvements, and a new steering wheel replaces last year's go-kartlike unit. Interior trim and materials have also been refined. Substantial improvements to noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) have been made possible through the use of Quiet Steel for the plenum and dash, an acoustic engine cover, and other powertrain and insulation enhancements. The electric power steering has been recalibrated, and various suspension revisions improve ride and handling. A four-speed automatic transmission replaces last year's five-speed unit and the coupe's CVT unit.

Saturn...never again... - 2005 Saturn ION
By CAB - December 15 - 5:10 pmI have had my Saturn ION 3 for a while and have had many problems from the tires, brakes, interior ceiling, sunroof...I can keep going. The car is nice to look at but I will not buy another one. The customer service also was not what I expected. Overall not a good car and not a good feel. I really wanted to buy the VUE, something really big will have to happen to change my mind.

Worst Car Ive ever bought - 2005 Saturn ION
By ION "Worst Car" - October 22 - 2:56 amMy 2005 Saturn Ion3 is the worst car I have ever owned, I currently owe $7000.00 on the car and its engine is shot along with the rear main seal multiple attempts to fix the sunroof, drivers window, IGNITION (3times), HORRIBLE gas mileage and the worst customer service from GM ever. I wouldnt not recommend this car to my worst enemy!!! Sincerely Monica-

Amazing - 2005 Saturn ION
By DavePlaysDrums - October 3 - 1:16 amAdded the Stage II performance kit. Highly recommended. Well worth the money. This car performs comparable to the RX-8 (the other choice with the quad door configuration) but is more practical as a daily driver. 48,000 miles and still love it every time I get in!

You get what you pay for - 2005 Saturn ION
By city girl - October 2 - 8:50 pmThis is a cute car for a teenager. It is not made for the highway! When on the highway it swirls a bit because the car is so light weight. When it is a windy day outside, the car swirls because it cannot handle the wind. This car is too light weight, but other than that I do not have too many problems with it. I also have a problem with the defrost. The windows get foggy as soon as you turn the car on.

05 ION - 2005 Saturn ION
By Thomas - August 24 - 7:03 pmThis is the second Saturn that Ive owned. The ION has what the market needs. Mid range in price, and a new look and feel compared to the SL2 that I had for the last three years. It has good power, even on hills. Fuel mileage is great, considering the cost of gas, and is coming in at 29 mpg (city)

Good economy car - 2005 Saturn ION
By J&T in Indiana - June 25 - 10:20 pmWe are very happy overall with the 2005 Saturn Ion 1. We wanted a low end, inexpensive vehicle with good gas mileage. The Saturn gave us all we wanted with about 32 MPG on average. Because of this MPG our other vehicles have set idle more lately. We are disappointed in the seating quality. We have seen the ION 2 & 3 as well and apparently they all got the shaft on quality seating. Many times you get what you pay for but in this case, the Saturn does deliver more for your money. With the awesome centered guages, MPG, and low insurance cost, it is a great deal.

Love My 2005 Saturn ION 2 - 2005 Saturn ION
By Nashville - May 27 - 11:53 amSaturn ION 2 sedan is a "tight" driving vehicle. Handles very well at all speeds. I like the placement of the instrument panel, although it did take getting used to looking in the center of the dashboard. Plenty of front passenger leg room, rear passengers suffer lack of leg room. Excellent trunk space.

2005 ION 1 A - 2005 Saturn ION
By dzizwheel - May 5 - 1:06 amBought this car with 23 miles on it after having bought a 95 Saturn SL1 5m in May of 04. My brother has a 95 Saturn SL1 5 M and cant kill it. These were so good, I had to check out the ION. Difference is night and day in comfort, quiet, ease of entry, room and height of drivers seat. I adjusted to the center mounted instrument cluster within a block of my first test drive. I like the instruments being up high like this instead of down somewhere behind the steering wheel. Feels like a much larger car, solid like an old Volvo. This ones going to be around a long time.
