Best compact truck ever - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By dannybayless - September 1 - 11:43 pmIve owned several compact trucks and this is by far the best all around. The 2.7 pulls the rather heavy truck very well even with the 33" tires on 18" heavy rims Ive put on. The motor has potential to have much more power with a few minor adjustments, which I have done and am very pleased with. This truck has done all thats been requested of it while getting competitive gas mileage (19-23). Ive pulled over 10,000 pounds long distances over rugged terrain with ease, climbed the Smokey mountains, and taken 1000 mile trips with only the extremely uncomfortable interior to complain about. Other than uncomfortable ride, it beat expectations by far. I look forward to the next generation.

only toyota - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By Pumba - August 21 - 10:00 amI picked up my 2000 SR5 4WD V6 on the eve of 2000. I love this truck. I havnt put many miles on it until recently. I had a company car to drive. This is my second toyota (first a 1991 tercel) and my wife just bought a 2002 RAV4 which is awesome. This truck has plenty of power. The only drawbacks I see are the cruise control which is jerky, the seats are a little uncomfortable after a while, the bed of the truck jumps around like cray on bumpy city roads, and finally the gas miliage is terrible. I only an average 17mpg. I thought I would at least get 21 to 23. All that aside, I love this truck

By ontario102 - April 17 - 2:00 amMy last 4 vehicles have been Toyos for good reason. These are the BEST, esp. when a truck like the Tacoma is compaired with the Nissan.

Great little truck - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By Jazbone - January 27 - 10:00 amBought this used in 7/02.. Im totally amazed at the quality and performance this truck has. It will drive on any snow/icey surface with ease, good power for a 2.7 litre, with great gas mileage, 20/23 and I have registered 25.5 down I-5 @ 60-65 mph. The ride is a little stiff, and the cab is a bit too narrow for 2 adults

Love my Truck! - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By ABerge - November 21 - 6:10 amI bought this vehicle a few months ago. Although it had high mileage, I have had few problems with her. She is reliable and dependable! I have a job that takes me out dirt roads, long interstate commutes, and she buzzes along like its nothing. Very tough, and very cute!

My Tacoma - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By Tango Falcon - September 4 - 10:00 amTRD package adds serious horsepower to the truck and you can diffinitely fell it when the red light turns green. The power to weight ratio is not the greatest but for a day to day use it is diffinitely bangin.

Not One Complaint! - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By srogers50 - August 26 - 7:46 amBought used in 2005 w/72000 miles, now has 141000, i had both a Chevy and gmc light truck, both were junk compared to my Toyota. Waterpump only thing Ive had to replace, did myself saved $600, Extremely reliable, love the ride, cause it rides like a truck. Regular maintenance done and it still runs like the day i bought it. Only problem i wish it had 4wd, other than that i will keep this truck until they tell me that there is literally nothing you can do to fix it. there is nothing i havent been able to do with this truck.

Wheres the bumper? - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By KBI - June 14 - 10:00 amBoth this pickup and my Civic 2000 dont have real bumpers. Maybe this is the way they make them today. It will cost you if you his something. The transmission and clutch (std 5 spd), is the worst of any vehicle Ive driven of models built since the 1950s. I have to shift carefully to get anywhere near a smooth shift. By the way, I was raised on a farm and *know* how to shift. The pickup gets good mileage and the engine runs well and supplies all the power I need.

Great truck, but obviously a truck - 2000 Toyota Tacoma
By Carnut - March 28 - 6:46 pmHad the truck for a year, and no major problems to report. Drives through 2ft of snow like its nothing, tows like theres nothing there. I was disappointed by the gas mileage - around 15 MPG around town, without a load. Ride is terrible with the TRD package, but its in line with my expectations for a truck. It also has a very clunky manual transmission. Has had numerous annoying interior rattles, which I did not expect on a Toyota. It also feels quite tippy and has a lot of "bump steer" even on slow corners. All annoyances aside, its a great truck. I like the simple, uncluttered styling, inside and out. It is very "trucky," but it feels solid and should last forever.
