Overview & Reviews
New compact pickup with a real name debuted in March, 1995. Optional four-wheel ABS, a driver airbag and potent new engines are highlights of the new design. Rack-and-pinion steering replaces the old recirculating ball-type on the old truck. Front seatbelts are height-adjustable.

Love It - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By tmason - November 26 - 2:53 pmI bought this truck to commute to school (1/2 hour) and twice monthly to northern VT from RI. I take it on the beach with no hesitation and cant wait to drive it in the snow. Surfing the secluded spots wont be a problem anymore. My truck has 201,000 miles on it and it feels like a newborn. I highly recommend buying a used tacoma. Ive spent many nights in the back of it camping out on the beach. Its just a romantic truck.

Great Truck!!! - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By brettj1 - May 28 - 10:00 amI bought my truck brand new, almost 7 years ago. I want to buy another Toyota but the one I own now is doing so well that I hate to spend the money on a new truck.

1995 Tacoma 4WD Xtra Cab V6 - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By Bobs95 - March 1 - 8:20 pmI have 135K on this truck and its still going very strong. I have cheated - I have always used Amsoil pure synthetic lubes, oil and air filters, so low wear is to be expected. But the fact that Ive had very few other components fail is testimony to a quality design and the famous Toyota reliability. Ive been 4-wheeling and camping and it goes everywhere I need it to. Recently I bought a 4000 pound travel trailer and will likely step up to the V8 Tundra since this trailer is close to the limit of this Tacomas towing capacity (5000 lbs). But it does tow economically - we just got back from a camping trip up into the high Sierras (6500 feet) and got 15 MPG on the trip towing the trailer.

Holy Smokes, Do I Love This Truck! - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By BCdogs14 - April 12 - 4:36 pmEasily the greatest vehicle Ive ever driven. Ive never had to fix anything that wasnt a perishable commodity. Brake pads only once, spark plugs once. Not bad for a 13 year old truck. Even took her cross country CA to NC... she kicked that out like it was driving to the store. Gas mileage is awesome for a truck. A story: Wife was buying her Yaris, and the salesman asks me what Im driving, like to sell me one too, I tell him "that 1995 Tacoma right there". His smile drooped and he he walked away. I am convinced this truck will outlive me. I get offers on it from strangers almost once a week... and no soap. I love this truck!!!

Keeps Going and Going and Going... - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By Jon Martin - June 4 - 10:00 amI have had this truck for eight years now and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Reliability is great, never breaks down. Replaced the clutch at 145,000. Need a new starter now, but I am able to start the truck if I play with it abit. I have been in two rear end accidents with the truck and have had no mechanical problems. Thus far, I have only replaced the clutch, alternator and battery.

Hate needing to sell this baby - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By Rakman - January 26 - 10:00 amNeeded to replace 2nd clutch (first clutch replaced at 50,000) at 125,000 miles. Regular maintenace for everything else......I never have needed to replace the brakes!!! Had them checked for replacement at 110,000 and they still looked good. Oil every 3k and air filter occasionally....did have to fill in some rock chips on the hood.

Headding for 300,000 miles - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By egret100 - January 11 - 2:00 amI bought this truck new. Currently has 282,000 miles. Each year I say I am going to buy something new, but everything, EVERYTHING, still works on this truck. It still has the original clutch, alt, starter, etc. Only has oil and filter changes. Ive grown attatched to this vehilce.

3 years and still running strong - 1995 Toyota Tacoma
By Dydrmr01 - August 2 - 2:00 amI have owned my Tacoma for 3 1/2 years and I love this truck! I am a first- time Toyota and truck owner, but I am sold. I just rolled 124,000 miles, and besides a timing belt change, I have no major mechanical work needed on this vehicle. They are great trucks, and if you take care of them, theyll take care of you. Not to mention that I live in Hawaii, do a lot of off-roading, and this little stock Toyota keeps pace with the jacked up Chevys and Fords with no problem at all.
