Not the truck i hoped and payed for - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By John H - December 9 - 6:46 pmAs we all know Toyota Tacomas are very expensive in comparison to their domestic counterparts. Youre hoping they give u at least 200k. Bought this truck brand new with 26 miles. I commute nearly 350 miles every 2 days. I changed both the oil and filter every 3,000 with Toyotas recommended oil, flushed the trans every 45k and had the rear end done every 50k. Cooling system at 65k and again at 118k. With 121,450 miles my 2.7L seized. Not what I expected. Toyota said at 120k it should be ready for an overhaul. Engine sludge. OK? I thought they lasted. My wifes 05 FX4 f150 has 188k on original drivetrain along with my 97 Jeep 4.0 with 294k on the original engine. Should have spent money elsewhere.

Great Buy - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Dan - October 7 - 5:06 amI have always owned Toyotas. My first was a 1986 that ended up with 276,000 mile, second a 1994 ext cab 4x4 that I sold to buy this truck. I ordered this vehicle having never driven this model because I am so loyal to Toyota. It took 6 months to arrive. I ordered a silver double cab TRD 4x4 with 6 speed manual transmission. This truck has been great so far and I love driving it.

Great Truck Except - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Todd Cranford - September 1 - 2:00 pmI love my truck; researched thoroughly before I made the purchase. I traded a 2003 Silverado and there really is no comparison between the two vehichles. I have put 4000 miles on it in all types of weather conditions and have to say that the driving experience is a pleasure. Going from the V8 in the Chevy to the V6 was a concern, but it turns out that my Tacoma has power to spare when needed. This is truly a great truck except for one issue that I hope to get resolved and does not cause any long term damage. I notice a tapping in the engine, only on cold starts and it certainly has me alarmed although it quits after the engine is warm. My dealership will resolve this issue.

Not very satisfied - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Scott C. - August 26 - 1:50 amOverall probably the best truck in its class but for a $30K truck I would expect more standard features such as an illuminated glove box, illuminated console, illuminated sun visor mirrors, cargo bed light (the Tundra has it), heated mirrors, outside temp. and compass display (only available on sport or off road models). The transmission is extremely shifty and in my opinion rough. It often feels like I got rear ended when coming to a stop. My 2004 Jeep with 180K miles shifted much more smoothly. The stock stereo system is absolutely terrible. Virtually no highs, muffled lows and no midrange adjustment. Stereo in my 2000 4 Runner is 5 times better. Again, I would expect more at this pricepoint.

06 standard cab 4x4 Tacoma - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By gene - August 10 - 3:36 pmI bought this Tacoma in oct of 2006. Its a 2.7 i4, 5spd manual, 4x4 w/ ac. The truck itself is great. Handles well on the highway as well as offroad. My only complaint is the 5spd manual transmission. It does not shift smoothly. It sometimes hangs up going into reverse and 2nd gear. I have taken it back to the dealer a few times and was told that while they test drive it there wasnt any problem shifting. I am 55 yrs old and have been driving manual transmission trucks and cars for a while. This is the first one that felt like the trans was low on oil, or the shifter was bent out of shape. That has been the only problem I have had so far.

First of many Toyotas to come - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By manderman - July 27 - 8:30 pmAfter I came back from Iraq I knew what I wanted to spend my reenlistment bonus on. I bought my first Toyota truck. I have the 05 Tacoma Sport and am loving it. Its in my opinion the best looking truck out there. With the access cab Im able to pack my fishing gear as well as my buddies quite comfortably. The bed liner and built in storage compartments are sweet. Performance wise Im definitely impressed. Due to high gas prices I was looking at the a V6 instead of the V8 and really havent felt like Ive sacrificed a huge amount of power. The interior is sweet as well. The dash looks race carish and has all the options I was looking for.

06 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab LB - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By ED - July 19 - 7:16 pmI received the truck with 8 miles and now I have 1100 miles. The quality is as expected-Great and Dependable. Which were the reasons for its purchase. Power is adequate but somewhat dissapointing in what I thought it would be. Gas mileage is between 18-19mpg. Rather plain inside, no thrill or gadgets which is OK. Truck is a lot larger than pre- 05. Very similar to the Tundra in size. Love the composite bed and the 4 doors are so handy. So far the truck has been wonderful..glad I bought the Tacoma. Toyota makes a great vehicle.

Happy with it - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
By Tacomaowner - June 25 - 5:13 amI am more than satisfied with the ownership experience, from the performance, features, and low maintenance to the positive comments I get from others about the truck. I only wish I had specified the "outside temp / compass" feature and I also wish the radio had a aux" input for iPod and XM radio input.
