  • Almost Perfect for a Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

We just passed 93,000 miles on our Tacoma and have yet to perform a single repair other than regularly scheduled maintenance. The worst parts of the Tacoma were the lousy stock tires, but once we replaced those with General Grabbers, things were much better. The radio format is a disappointment, too, because the dash wont accept a standard DIN opening replacement, and were stock with the standard unit, which lakes MP3 ability and an auxiliary input jack. Another odd thing is the fuel economy: It gets 19-20 MPG around town and the same 19-20 MPG on the freeway. Im really happy around town, but wish the freeway fuel use was a bit better.

  • Transmission Problems - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Fell in love with the tacoma design and had to buy one. I give it low marks on performance because Im having problems with the automatic transmission. The truck vibrates at low speeds and cant seem to find the low gears. Took it to the dealer and was told that it was normal. The problem still persists and I will contact the dealer and Toyota.

  • "Toyota Family " - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I have owned at least every car that Toyota has built, from the corolla to the Avalon, That is a Supra, 3 Cressidas, a 4-Runner. This truck is by far, the smoothest truck that I have ever ridden in. It rides and performs like one of my Cressidas. Heads turn when I pass. Its a joy to drive. The interior is great. Its sturdy and rides great. I dont think I went wrong with this truck...

  • Best Truck Ever! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

This is my 4th Toyota in over 20 years - they are so well-built, that I havent needed to shop much! This is a beautiful truck and I love how fast and powerful it is when you need the extra merging power/get up and go. I havent had one stitch of trouble with it and not a single factory defect, either. My Prius gas mileage is missed, but I really needed a truck, so the Tacoma was the natural choice.

  • Excellent Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I traded my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer for a 2006 Tacoma PreRunner TRD double cab this past December. The Tacoma feels more like a full size instead of a compact. The 4.0 gets you out of the hole quick and doesnt let up. It tops out at 113 mph (governed of course). It has excellent storage under and behind the back seats as well as convenient storage pockets in the bed of the truck by the tailgate. It pulls my 2000 pound Key West boat with ease without hesitating one bit. Its a excellent truck and an investment that you wont regret.

This is a great truck, I have a 18 ft toy hauler, it pulls it great even in the big hills. I get 11 miles to the gallon pulling my trailer, and I get 18 just about every where else-- very good truck!!

  • Why Did I Wait? - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I am your typical "Truck Guy". I have loved the small 4X4 pickup since Datsun had them out in the early 80s. I have never owned one though, until this one. I dont know why I waited so long. In my job I drive many vehicles and once I drove the 06 Tacoma, I knew I was home. I havent driven a smoother more comfortable pickup of this size ever. I also have a disability that causes me to suffer a great deal of pain when driving most vehicles. I dont experience any pain when driving my Tacoma. If everyone built a vehicle this solid and reliable, I would be out of work. There is a reason that a used Tacoma sells at or near its original selling price.

  • An absolute delight! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Just replaced my first truck (a 92 Toyota compact truck) w/ a 06 Tacoma. I would not even consider another brand due to my experience w/ my 92. I honestly did not have a lot of money to spend, so I went w/ a manual transmission/regular cab. All I can say is omg wow what a lot of truck for not a lot of cash. The interior is solid as a rock, and very well put together. I have found myself frequently checking my payment book and marveling at how fantastic this vehicle is for such a low payment.

  • Get The "Platinum" Warranty - 2006 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

I drive the hell out of this truck. Not too many complaints. Does a funny thing at stops, acts like it wants to keep going even though I have my foot on the brake. Almost feels like someone bumps you from behind. Compass/temp gauge went out and it wasnt covered by the warranty. They wanted $1100 to fix it, telling me the "Gold" warranty doesnt cover that, only the "Platinum". I took the unit apart and fixed it myself in about ten minutes. Seems like it goes through a lot of batteries too, four in 2 1/2 yrs.
