  • Excellent truck, on and off road - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I have had my Tacoma for a year and half and this truck is great! The truck is comfortable, spacious, and has excellent power. I use the truck to take me on my trips camping, snowboarding, fishing, and many other adventures and this truck seems to handle them all with ease. It also has a great ride on the road.

  • Your best bet! - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Highly recommended. After owning 3 Chevrolets, a Nissan, and a Mitsubishi, I can say that the Toyota takes the cake. This truck is meant to be a truck. It doesnt have all the frilly features you will find on other brands, but you wont need them, trust me. You are buying a truck. The ride is sturdy, noise kept to a minimum, the seats are comfortable and both front and rear seats have ample leg and headroom. If you are considering a pickup, Tacoma will satisfy your needs even if you are hunting a full-size. I wouldnt recommend it for towing anything over 5,000 lbs, though. It can handle the PULL, its the stopping that becomes tough. This is my first non 4x4, and I can say so far so good.

  • My First New Vehicle - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Waited 44 years to get my 1st new vehicle & after driving a 93 Reg Cab 4x4 the last 5 years... couldnt have made a better choice. 19/23 mpg lol, I averaged 25.2 MPG the 1st 2 tanks of gas (87 octane). Im 6-1, 210# and I cant believe the interior room. Only gripe I have is if I put my left elbow on the door rest to "push myself up" in the seat, it collapses & dimples in, very cheaply made. Not crazy about the Dun-rock tires (old tire salesman). A set of Michelins or Bridgestone Alenzas woulda been nice for the full size truck price I paid. Other than that, I love this truck and have NO regrets.

  • Awesome truck...but.... - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Overall, this Tacoma has been very good and useful for us. However, that being said, if you have the means and are looking for an AUTO trans Taco, I would suggest getting the V6 instead. I currently own an 07 Double-cab long bed Prerunner and average about 21mpg (our local gas is a 10% ethanol blend). With the inline 4, I was only averaging about 22mpg so the fuel economy savings with the 4 is very slim. The V6 also idles softer/smoother (as is the case with most V6s vs larger displacement 4s). Also, occasionally during cold starts the inline 4 seemed to idle quite high and noisily for about half a minute before settling down (others have posted reviews about this as well).

  • Great Entry Level Truck - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I was looking for an inexpensive work type truck. They DONT exist anymore. I bought a Tacoma after eliminating the Ranger (side facing jump seats) and the Frontier (bigger cab but too much$$). I didnt want, or need, bells and whistles. I got a great truck with am/fm/cd, automatic, bed line, seating for 3 at a great value and with what looks like the best ability to hold value after driving off the lot. The cab is spacious, the color is great (got the Indigo Ink Pearl). My wife and girls love the color, my guy friends love the bed liner, the tie downs, the cool styling. I have never owned a Toyota but will likely own more as the dealer sent someone 135 miles for the color I wanted!!!

  • Like the circus clowns in the car - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

How does Toyota do it? SOO much truck for so little money. 4 door cab is extremely roomy and comfy. V6 mated to the 5 speed auto is more than ample power - truck will scoot. Ride is unblievable for a truck. My wife (who is not a truck person) compares the ride to a car. Shes right. Very stable handling. mine came with the limited slip diff. and on a recent long distance, high speed trip in TORRENTIAL rain it was stable as a rock. No wheel spin, no traction loss at all. Stereo is killer - sounds better than the one is my expensive sports car. Back bed liner is tough - BUT slippery for my dogs. easily fixed with rubber bed mat. Fit and finish is typical Toyota - tops. Paint is lustrous.

  • Underwhelmed - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

I bought my 06 Sport pkg 4 dr short bed a couple months ago after trading in my 2000 Tundra. Ive had Toyota trucks for 18 years now and Im a bit dissapointed in their latest offering. I find the ride much harsher than previous trucks, like old solid axle GMCs. That has translated to numerous ugly rattles that the dealer cant seem to find. The Sport seats are comfy for about 30 miles and then get progressively harder. I dont like loosing the cassette player and ashtray either. Style is a personal thing but using a third of the dash for the radio and painting it all silver is a little pushy. The V6 is short on torque like the previous V6s but does get V8 gas mileage.

My Tacoma is an all around awsome truck. After driving a huge Chevy Tahoe for years, mileage is definitely much better with the tacoma, and its 4x abilities are awesome. Very solid truck right off the lot.

This is a very good looking dependable and fun to drive truck. Plenty of leg room in front seat for a 6’3” 250 lb guy. Controls are where you would expect them to be and very easy to use.

  • Shes a keeper! 4 cyl, pre-run, access - 2006 Toyota Tacoma

My first Truck. Researched for 6 months. This truck has been really fun. I dont need 4WD or a V6. I wanted a truck to haul things with but also to get good highway mpg so I went with the 4cyl. The power has been fine since the engine is 2.7L, but only 20mpg. Sticker said Id get 27hwy. I really wanted the Desert Sand but most dealers only had silver. Then I found a store which ordered up the Gold for me, and the build date was 2 days after I ordered! Im 63", 250 and have a ton of room. My anti-truck friends admit they are impressed
