Good Body, Very Poor Drivetrain - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By Josh - January 5 - 12:33 pmThe new Tacoma is a great looking truck with a very smooth ride and excellent off road capabilities, but it has one very serious flaw that makes all the good features pointless. The engine and transmission in this truck are terrible. The transmission never selects the correct gear, the engine has zero low end torque and the combination goes together like oil and water. I absolutely hate driving this truck anywhere but on the trail off road. Sure the ride is fantastic and the braking and handling are good but whats the point when you constantly have to smash the throttle to go up any kind of incline. Im not sure what the engineers were smoking when they developed the engine and transmission for this truck but it must have been really good. Dont buy this truck with a V6 and automatic transmission.

Happy - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By vic wojnowski - January 3 - 6:07 amTipical toyota, firm ride & steering, simple controls, solid feel, good storage . Navigation screen hard to see in bright light, transmission shifts out of lower gear to quickley. Gas milage for a truck is good. Size of veh. is perfect, not to big or small.

Hooked on Tacomas!!! - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By Neil Stewart - December 26 - 11:21 pmTraded in our 2011 Tacoma in Sept/16 at Diehl in Butler, Pa.....we were thrilled with trade in value. These trucks are built to last for sure! Our first service needed on our 2011 was at 136,000 miles for parking lights! Unbelievable! We had added running boards, rain visors and bed cover...such a good looking truck! We sell antiques and travel to shows for buying and selling so we use a 16 ft enclosed trailer. The truck always performed well for us. Now we just bought a 2017 Tacoma...added all the above but havent decided on our bed cover yet. Love it already but still think our other (dark grey) was prettier than the new white one!

noisy ride. - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By David - December 9 - 7:19 amThey call it wind noise in the weather stripping between 15 and 45 mph but you can hear it with windows rolled down and being on the outside of the truck. Maybe the tires, faulty design but it hums like crazy and they just keep saying they know about it but Toyota hasnt given them a solution yet. Would not pay all this money out again on a Toyota. This is my 3rd one and my last one. All have had noise issues and I am hard of hearing.

3rd Tacoma for me; Best yet! - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
By Wilson Matthews - November 19 - 12:48 amReplaced a 2010 Tacoma with this 2016 TRD Sport 2WD short bed. The 2010 held great value, it was rear-ended and the towing package/hitch bent up under the truck and broke/bent the frame in 3 places and buckled the composite bed. At 6 years old and 87K miles it held 89% of its original value. The 2016 rides smoother and is significantly quieter. The interior seems to be "tighter" and of better quality. The technology package is amazing, and the sound system has quality output. The navigation is disappointing when compared to recent Garmin Nuvis. Ive only had the truck for 2 weeks, so thats all the experience I have. June 2017 1 Year Update: My review remains unchanged at 1 year of ownership. Im at 15K miles and have had no issues. Im disappointed to see Consumer Reports ratings of this truck below average: but Ive experienced no issues, maintenance still covered by ToyotaCares, likely for another year based on mileage.

By Jackie Ctz - October 9 - 5:53 pmRead all the reviews you want but if you are going outdoors you must be: nimble, reliable and unstoppable .. the Tacoma is the only vehicle that can fit this description. Yes, you can find more comfortable rides but if you are going camping, biking, hiking, or fishing, the vehicle you take should not even be a preparatory consideration, the Tacoma fits this requirement. They sale more and last longer for a reason ( Japanese brand=great quality ). If you want a serious offroad truck that is above the rest in dependability buy a Tacoma.... You will be glad. Tony Delgadillo from Hamer Toyota on sepulveda Blvd is the best option...great guy, easy to talk to very helpful and real with numbers trust me I did my homework before even thinking on showing up to test the Tacoma.
