  • Tacoma number 4. Second Limited. - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

This is the best yet. 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2016. All V6 and the last two being Limited. Wish it had power seats and collision warning. We really love the truck. We re get an easy 24 mpg at highway speeds of less than 80. Towing a 5,500 lb powerboat with a tandem axel trailer and of course brakes is not a problem for this truck. We get about 15mpg but thats to be excepted. Toyota has made another winner with the refreshed Taco. Made the right purchase. Not cheap but we got what we paid for. Having driven the Taco now for 7,000 miles Ive got an update to share. The tranny had a couple of issues that a computer update finally corrected. Constant searching for gears while on the hwy and delay when shifting from reverse to forward. All fixed by the update. Very happy once again.

  • Windshield sucks - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

i live in the Midwest drive on gravel roads daily and have had hundreds of rocks hit my windshield causing chips occasionally that can be repaired. I bought a brand new 2016 Tacoma and have had it 6 months the first tinny pebble that hit my windshield caused a 10 in crack. While checking on cost for new one I have discovered that Im not alone. Apparently these windshields are thinner than normal and crack with the slightest impact. At $1200 for junk oem replacement there needs to be a recall and redesign. Other than that I like the truck.

  • I new what I was buying - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I had to write a review after reading a lot of bad one star reviews by folks who did a test drive. First off the "power" issue is what it is. I have owned both the 2nd gen and now a 3rd gen Tacoma and off the line the 3rd gen seems alittle weaker, over all the 3rd will move when you get on the gas. I have averaged 20 mpgs on mine since day one and that is mostly winter time. Driver seat isnt as comfortable as it could be and if you are 63" this truck isnt for you. I also on a Current gen Tundra and it has nice leather seats. I bought the taco because it got better mpg than my tundra and cheaper operational cost. Ride and Handling is impressive. I dont plan on hauling heavy loads, mostly recreational equipment. This is a Mid size truck remember that if you want one. And to the guy who bought one and hates all the technology in it, why did you buy it. A lot of the technology is standard on most trucks today.

  • Hard to believe - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I have been thinking about replacing one of our Subarus with a off road pickup and was happy to see remodeled Tacoma. Upon driving it though, I have to wonder what the Front Office is thinking. Did they test drive this dog before they released it? I doubt it because it is so lacking power and transmission gel that it made for a very dissappointing test drive. I wont buy one until they address these ridiculous shift points. In trafic you have to just about floor it to change lanes and it has a very annoying vibration. I cannot imagine taking this hound on the freeway. The seat is "one size fits all". There is no seat height adjustment on this 37,000 vehicle! [non-permissible content removed]

  • Tacoma SR best for the price - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I have owned this truck for 8 months I find that the overall construction is excellent, styling is great. The main concerns I have is that I got the 4- cylinder and it is under-powered for this truck, even with the 5-speed manual transmission. The other thing is the squeaky clutch pedal. I would buy another Tacoma in the future and would still get the SR or SR5 but with the 6-cylinder and 6-speed manual transmission.

The transmission sucks - shifts hard, lunges out of park or during slow acceleration and cant find 5th or 6th gear while cruising. The yota fan boys play it down, but its terrible. The USB port continually loses connection with my phone and the BT requires me to forget the device and repair, otherwise the sound speeds up by about x4 for maybe a second and then stops, but repeats this cycle continually. MPG is pretty solid - 20ish for combined DC driving and up to 23+ on mostly highway trips. Another positive is I can fit my 5,4 and 2 y/o in the backseat.

  • Not what it used to be - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I have owned several Tacomas in the past and have enjoyed all of them however this 2016 is a big disappointment. I thought with the newer engine and 6 speed transmission Toyota would have a hit but this one is a flop. The truck seems smaller to me although it is probably the same but maybe the layouts are different. The biggest complaint is the transmission. It never knows what gear it wants to be in. Going up the smallest hills requires 2 downshifts and with the cruise on any time there is any grade the transmission will look for a lower gear. I had a 2015 that I traded on a the 2016 but that was a mistake. I should have kept the 2015 with the 4.0 V6, it was so much better. I am sure Toyota will fix this transmission issue down the road. Toyota hasnt really acknowledged the transmission issue. Traded this vehicle. Very disappointed, no longer own this vehicle, not up to Toyota standards. Big problems.

  • 2016 tacoma pre runner transmission issues - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

truck has 1300 miles on it going into the shop for the second time for trans issues 1st time in they did the tsb update didnt fix the problems shifts into high gear to early causes truck to lug truck idles up when about stopped causing it to lurch forward and causing a drive line clunk also clunk off and on while driving slow speed a/c is off Struggles to maintain highway speeds on moderate hills, lots of gas pedal action and reluctant down shifting during wich it will start to surge and bog down very disappointed in this truck have had several Toyotas since the early 90s and this one may go in for a trade I cant stand driving it anymore the way it shifts is horrible 1300 miles I shouldnt have to be taking it to the shop again its already been there once for 4 days and going back again not a happy customer any more

  • Warning to previous owners of Tacomas - 2016 Toyota Tacoma

The 2016 Tacoma will disappoint anyone that has owned an older V6 powered Tacoma. I have purchased a new Tacoma every 2 years since 1985. I currently still own 4 TRD 4x4s. They are all used for business. The 2016 has the worst engine, transmission, gear ratio of any Toyota I have driven. The power band/shift points leave this vehicle sluggish at best. On any incline in the road the transmission will shift continuously between 6th and 4th(1900rpm to 3400rpm at 75mph). The engine noise is significantly more noticeable than my 2014 which is a great vehicle. On flat ground the transmission shifts through the gears so quickly you find yourself always stepping harder on the throttle to keep the speed up. When you contact Toyota everyone at the dealership will deny they have heard of the problem. Toyota factory reps will admit they know of the issue but as of this date no fix. I would not recommend a 2016. Look for a 2014 or older. Update 08/15/2017. Toyota has a software update for the transmission shifting. You will have to find a service writer familiar with the update. (Most know nothing of it). The update makes the shifting problems better. Doesnt do anything for the noises engine. The truck also has a recall for a leaky rear differential which they do not have the parts to repair. I want my 2014 back.

  • Worst truck I ever owned" - 2016 Toyota Tacoma
    By -

Toyota should be ashamed to even sell this piece of junk. After only 210 miles, transmission not shifting correctly, buzzing feeling from steering wheel and gas pedal and a shudder at 20-25 mph. 4wd system is hard to engage. The gas mileage is at 12 in town, 18.4 on the highway. Truck has 425 miles on it now and been to the shop twice. Dealer says they cant find anything wrong with it and the condition may be normal. Are they for real. Toyota themselves are no help at all. Beware on buying the "New Tacoma". I hate driving this Tacoma. Update. After being in the shop 4 different times for a total of 42 days and never repaired I traded this junk. Toyota and the dealer are a joke. Never again will I purchase a Toyota. Traded this in on a 150.
