Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

I dont think Ill become a fanboy - 2017 Toyota Corolla
By unsatisfied - March 3 - 5:11 amThe car is not that good looking to begin with, but it comes in any color you want as long as its white, black, 50 shades of grey, or Christmas tree ornament blue or red, very boring. You get what you pay for, but surprisingly for the price the fit and finish are very good.. The interior does seem to contain a lot of shiny cheap plastic. They also put a lot of emphasis on back seat legroom, but they didnt leave any upfront and that makes the car uncomfortable on a long trip. I have already stopped to stretch my legs so as not to get a DVT. My major complaint is the CV transmission. Im sure this may be an adequate transmission is a state that is flat, or in a snowmobile; but where I live It is very hilly and there is the problem. First it is noisy under acceleration and that acceleration is very poor. It is slower that the 4 speed automatic it replaced and a snail when compared to a manual shift. The engine races when accelerating, and it seems you are always waiting for the transmission to catch up. The RPM are all over the place, and passing can take a long time and be dangerous. Toyota put phony shift points in a transmission that doesnt shift; this is very irritating and it is one more thing to go wrong. I wonder what Toyota was thinking? Has anyone asked why the 2018 Camry started with a clean sheet of paper and they didnt put a CVT in that car? My theory is that this transmission is light duty only. Instead of gears there is a belt between two drums, and unlike a gear that meshes, the belts probably need a high coefficient of friction to function and friction spells wear. I was going to purchase this car until a friend, who is a transmission technician , suggested I lease it because in about 60k-70k miles there is a good chance of transmission failure. Visits to various websites appears to bear that out. If the factory has all this confidence with this gum band transmission why dont they offer a longer FACTORY warranty to give the buyer peace of mind? If there are a lot of problems model wide, resale will suffer. Before you buy one insist on an overnight test drive to see if you can live with it. Why cant Toyota give us options like a 6 speed auto, 5 speed manual, or a dual clutch auto? There really is no alternative except Kia, Hyundai, or Mazda since the Honda civic, Nissan Sentra, and Nissan Altima also have CVTs. I realize that auto companies are being forced into this with CAFE averages, but Im not happy with this transmission and a potential of a $4500+ replacement charge, when it is out of warranty, so they can meet the CAFE and be able to sell a Tundra. This is just my opinion, but if you are buying for the long term maybe you should research CVTs on some websites Other complaints are lack of road feel, visibility is poor, and one has no idea where the front bumper is (maybe they need an upfront camera too), too much pedal travel in the brake, and difficulty getting in and out Other than the transmission, and some minor stuff, this is a very decent car for the price. As mentioned, fit and finish are excellent. It has a five star safety rating. The lane departure is good for those who like that tech. The air is great even though the fan is loud. I think this is my last Corolla especially when the next generation is going to be made in Mexico. Well thats my review, choose wisely.

2006 Toyota Corolla - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By Valerie - March 2 - 2:06 amI just bought the 2006 Corolla, and so far I love it. Its small, spunky, has pep, a great interior, is perfectly sized for me as a small person, and has Toyotas great reliability/durability history. Im on a budget, so I didnt get keyless entry. Wish I did. I havent ridden over 35 miles on the fwy yet, so cant say.

Most reliable car ever owned - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By brad - February 28 - 7:50 amPurchased used with 40K. While I maintained it, it never gave me one bit of a problem. Was getting 33 mpg. It was a pleasure to own this car. The reliability and fuel economy were unmatched. I could surprisingly lug around my toddlers car seat, stroller, and daughters softball equipment with no problem. Solidly built through and through.

So Far, So Good - 2016 Toyota Corolla
By wayne - February 27 - 6:49 pmBought the 2016 Corolla LE in Feb 2017. I didnt figure I d even have a shot at a 2016 model this late into the game but the dealer near me had bought a group of 5-6 and seemed to have them priced aggressively. I have always owned Fords or Chevrolets but I wanted to try a Toyota because Ive heard so much about their longevity. The last two cars Ive owned lasted me 12 and 13 years each. Im hoping to get much more than that from this 2016 Corolla. I put about 250 miles per week on it so far and the best thing Ive noticed is the mileage. Averaging 37mpg running city/highway miles. Hoping to get a little better than that when the summer gas mix comes out. It has the feel of a small car ride but the room inside seems spacious. So far, so good for this Corolla. I hope it gives me many years of riding pleasure ahead.

Good, Economical car - 2016 Toyota Corolla
By Chad - February 25 - 5:15 pmSo far, so good. I chose this model because I didnt want to spend a bunch of money on a basic car to get me back and forth to work but wanted something with a reliable history. I wish the fuel tank was a little larger. Que Sera, Sera.

Fun to drive - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By chinodeb - February 25 - 6:00 amThis is our 4th purchase of a brand new Toyota. First time to purchase the Corolla. It has more power than the 6 cyl. Camry we had. We purchased the car site unseen. The Corolla is fun to drive but I would not recommend it for long distance driving unless you want to stop every few hours and walk around. Toyota has come a long way over the last 18 years. They just keep improving and they get better and better.

Economy with a Luxury Feel - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By the-wire-guy - February 25 - 2:00 amAlmost bought the Honda EX; I think I made the right choice. Car is roomy, solid, and definately fun to drive. With only 130 horsepower, I thought the car would lug going up hills -- definately not a problem. As the car is breaking in, my gas mileage is going up (started at 30 MPG City/Hwy, now is up to 36 MPG City/Hwy driving). If you want gas mileage without giving up comfort, this is your car. Be aware the cost of insurance is high (replacement parts are high, safety is not a contributor), but the car is worth the extra insurance money.

A Car For These Times - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By simpson - February 24 - 10:03 amThe fact that (on purpose) over twice I have almost run out of gas to check mileage should help me brag on the 40 mpg of this little one. What a plus! I do not feel comfortable driving in windy times, as the car feels very shaky on the road when the wind or an 18 wheeler whizzes by. I dont feel safe in it in the way of being protected in case of an accident -- but, I do feel it is extremely dependable, economic, and the body style makes it undesirable, so far, for those who would want to take other cars :) - it is difficult to see to the right when making a turn - due to the seat/door panel, a safety concern.
